Celebrity RIP Thread

I need to put this here. It is about music and about passing.

I would not expect ASR participants to have been involved or appreciate dance music expressed by group gatherings like house parties or "raves." Maybe their kids and grandkids. Beyond the music, the "rave" community lived by PLUR, Peace Love Unity and Respect.

March 25th is the 20 year anniversary of the Seattle "Capitol Hill massacre," death of six. The Seattle Police Department report tells the story. The survivors are close friends, several continuing making music.

Another music tragedy was the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in 2017. Nightclub deaths, There are many more unnecessary music deaths before natural causes in history.

Because I know these survivors, it saddens me.

DJ Dan, Dan Wherret, American house DJ age 57.

My sensor network started picking this up this morning, but I delayed until it was official.

Hard working and humble guy. Many mega DJs have unpleasant egos. He was normal. I have been in his audience often.

The house music genre is broad. You can find many of his mixes online.

The mighty James Gadson has passed - what a groove master he was and with such a silky right hand on the hi hat . Like all the great drummers his feel and time are just amazing. Don't let the simplicity fool you into thinking this is easy - that's his gift :)

That's what the great musicians are.
My fav drummer is Tony Allen, not impressive like a metal drummer (I don't like metal music but it's an example) but a very unique groove he had, very recognizable.

Whitaker was a climbing mentor to a friend, Sarah Doherty, who submitted Rainier and Denali.

Who exactly is "we"? (without having even heard of the person before). Pluralis Maiestatis?

Whether condemned by court or by newspapers - dead is dead, period (IMHO).
Not wanting to remember anyone of note would be distorting history.
BTW, this is old. Even older than trying to "own" threads. Much older, and the protagonists were no saints either:

Dash Crofts of Seals & Crofts. Summer Breeze is a favorite of mine in the spring and early summertime. I would listen to it every spring before my first motorcycle ride of the season. RIP.

Brings back good memories. Driving around in the summer with Seals and Crofts on the radio. Glad I grew up back then
