"Mick Ralphs (31 March 1944 – 23 June 2025) was an English guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. He was a founding member of English rock bands Mott the Hoople and Bad Company. Despite not being a constant member, he appeared on every studio album released by both bands.... Ralphs was described as 'a versatile and skilful guitarist who could play anything from crunching power chords to delicate acoustic picking' and as 'a major songwriting contributor.'" (Wikipedia)

I wore-out Mott the Hoople's All The Young Dudes, Mott and The Hoople albums, where Mick penned quite a few songs. Although I was never a big Bad Company fan, one cannot deny they were huge in the 70s, with 40 million albums sold and plenty of songs that will live on as famous classic rock.

Bad Company was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025. Sadly, Mick will not get a chance to attend the November ceremony. RIP to an under-appreciated classic-rock guitar legend.

Roger Norrington (16 March 1934 – 18 July 2025).

A prime exponent of the historically informed performance practice.

(Sorry for the repeat)

R.I.P. Mick Ralphs…
My first exposure to Mott was All the Young Dudes but as I’ve aged the album that keeps coming back for me is Brain Capers. It’s a transitional album bridging classic rock, glam and punk and I hear the Clash all over it. A lasting achievement for Ralph’s, the band, and producer Guy Stevens.

Connie Francis.
(Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero - December 12, 1937 – July 16, 2025).

I was told of her death by my mate, who grew up with her music.
My rugrat years were devoid of such luxuries as 'pop music' and 'chart toppers'.

Jazz pianist Hal Galper passed. (Wikipedia) Played in the bands of: Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Cannonball Adderley, John Scofield and Phil Woods (in the 80s, I saw him acoupla times); backed vocalists Joe Williams and Anita O'Day; led his own trio in the 90-00s. Besides backing others, he did a lot of his own recordings, often with the Michael and Randy Brecker in the 70s, and with Jerry Bergonzi in the 90-00s. The album below is a nice one from 1977. RIP.

NO! So damn sad. :(

R.I.P

We all knew this was coming sooner rather than later, I just wish it had taken a bit longer. :(

Black Sabbath was fundamental for me; a discovery made when I was about 16. "We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'n' Roll" was my first investment.

I still remember the look of shock and horror on my Mom's face when she heard "Sweet Leaf," priceless...

Ozzy will definitely be missed.
