Rick Derringer, age 77. I saw him with Johnny Winter And way back when. Winter was having trouble with his amps that night, and Derringer played a lot more lead guitar than usual. He could rock!

Who could ever forget his rendition of "Back in the USA".

I like to post about the behind-the-scenes folks that produce the magic we so enjoy. Another great you probably never knew has passed:

Alf Faye Heiberg Clausen (March 28, 1941 – May 29, 2025) was an American film and television composer. He is best known for his work scoring many episodes of The Simpsons, for which he was the sole composer between 1990 and 2017. Clausen scored or orchestrated music for more than 30 films and television shows, including Moonlighting, The Naked Gun, ALF and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. (Wikipedia)

He won 2 Emmys and was nominated for 28 more for his work on The Simpsons and Moonlighting.

He began to score for The Simpsons for their 2nd season. His 'audition' was to score the Halloween 'TreeHouse Of Horror' episode, which became show tradition. This was the episode that brilliantly did Edgar Alan Poe's 'The Raven.'

I just re-started a Hulu/Disney streaming account after awhile away. My first show to catch-up with: The Simpsons. As a 66 year-old man....;)

RIP to a composer who was a major component of one of the most beloved series in USA television history.

Two Emmy-winner actresses on the same day.

M*A*S*H and Northern Exposure were excellent television series. RIP to 2 stars.

Loretta Jane Swit (born Loretta Jane Szwed; November 4, 1937 – May 30, 2025) was an American stage and television actress. She was widely known for her character roles, prominently her role as Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan on M*A*S*H, for which she was nominated in each season of the long-running show, and winning two Emmy Awards in 1980 and 1982. Valerie Mahaffey (June 16, 1953 – May 30, 2025) was an American-Canadian character actress and producer. In 1992, Mahaffey won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in the CBS drama series Northern Exposure. She later won fame through her performances in television shows such as Wings, Desperate Housewives, Devious Maids, Young Sheldon and Big Sky. (Wikipedia)

The recent losses of 'Hot Lips' and 'Norm' hit kinda hard. I may have watched more episodes of M*A*S*H and Cheers than any others. RIP.

From Wikipedia:
Bill Atkinson was the principal designer and developer of the graphical user interface (GUI) of the Apple Lisa and, later, one of the first thirty members of the original Apple Macintosh development team,[7] and was the creator of the MacPaint application. He also designed and implemented QuickDraw, the fundamental toolbox that the Lisa and Macintosh used for graphics.

I don't want to hit "like". Sad about Sly.

Sad but inevitable. Brian Wilson wrote a lot of great music, this is one of my favorites:

It's been a long time since I listened to The Beach Boys. When I was a kid I listened to my dad's Beach Boys album. I don't remember which album it was. Probably the album "All Summer Long" or maybe a best of The Beach Boys album because I remember listening to this one on repeat:

....and now I'm listening to it again.:)
