Celebrity RIP Thread

R.I.P

The British rock guitarist John Sykes, who played with Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy, has died aged 65.

A statement on his website said Sykes "passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer".

_________
Thunder and Lightning is the twelfth and final studio album by Irish hard rock band Thin Lizzy, released on 4 March 1983. Guitarist John Sykes was hired to replace Snowy White after 1981's Renegade, and Sykes helped to provide a heavier sound and guitar tone than Thin Lizzy had used on previous albums.

Here John Sykes goes all in with a really good solo on a song from that album: :D

I saw Thin Lizzy in 1983 and John Sykes provided a much needed shot of energy to the band at that time. It's a shame that Lynott couldn't keep it together. RIP Mr Sykes

I remember my brother telling me to go see Eraserhead when it came out, it’s great he said I’m going to see it again, come with me. So I went with him and since then to this day it’s still the weirdest movie I ever saw!

Van Alstine, one of the last great tube amp designers and engineers, right up there with Danny Von Recklinghausen.

I don't know if he is considered a celebrity on this forum, but Frank Van Alstine passed on January 29.
Wow, I did not know that. I spent a number of hours talking with Frank way back in the late 1970's and early 1980's, rarely since but he was quite a guy.
