Funny thing, I didn't know Pee-wee's Big Adventure was a kid's movie until today. I thoroughly enjoyed it as an adult.

I think the story of Paul Reubens is one that would be... best served as an allegory or example.
A man can be a truly talented comedian but is he's busted doing something untoward in an adult cinema then he is forever tarnished by that unjustly... what is the standard of behavior in an ADULT CINEMA?
I think he's up there with Kaufman, not quite mainstream enough of a comedian but his genius is evident to those who see it.

It was the times, unfortunately, and that he was categorized as children's entertainment.
Consider how the only person he touched was himself! And unlike many others, he wasn't trying to make some woman watch.
I think I said to my Dad, it's like the difference between Clinton and weed, and how everybody stopped caring by the time it was Bush (W) and Coke. With Obama, everybody was like, "hell ya he smoked weed!

We lost the great William Friedkin, who has become severely underrated since riding high in the '70s.
He also didn't care for his star in the film Cruising (which seems to have undergone a reappraisal after getting largely negative reviews upon its release), Al Pacino:
