Legendary tuba player Roger Bobo, one of the greatest to have ever lived. Tubist for the Royal Concertgebouw from 1956-1964 and the Los Angeles Philharmonic from 1964 to 1989. Recorded a series of hugely influential records, changing the way tuba players performed modern literature. Studied at the Eastman School of Music and taught at universities in the US, Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, and England. Aside from all that,
he impressed Doc Severinson when he performed on the
Tonight Show. But this performance of the Galliard Sonata No. 5 impresses me more:
Roger Bobo, dead at 84, RIP.
