Cavern QuickEQ - Basic How to

However, PC 2.1 systems are usually active crossovers, you just have to calibrate a stereo
The stereo signal goes from PC to the Denon Dra-F109 receiver (stereo), after it the active subwoofer connected to the mono-output. At the same time, there is a full signal for satellite, no highpass filter

Just max out the sub so when Cavern reduces its level by a lot, the sub will go back to normal levels, while lows will practically be removed from mains.

Denon Dra-F109 has no crossover settings: mono out works in parallel with the main shelf columns (satellites) with full range signal. Therefore, Cavern does not know about the existence of a subwoofer.

Correct, that's why you need to measure in stereo with a maxed out sub.

Boston XB4 model. Use "Bypass crossover control", that you mean?

If there's no gain, then all you can do is calibrate as stereo.
Are you talking about the volume control for the subwoofer? It is located on the top side. In the current measurements, I have set the volume control to 10 o'clock, do you suggest setting it to maximum volume? Is that reasonable? At maximum volume, artifacts/noise in the sound usually start.

I don't get your point. Are you suggesting to measure the subwoofer at maximum using cavern, and then measure the speakers separately? And then combine these 2 measurements into one?

No, I thought of a completely different setup that has no active crossover. In your case, it's a simple stereo measurement.

When connecting a subwoofer to the mono output of the receiver, the main speakers continue to receive a full-range audio signal, there is no crossover in the receiver. For this case, your advice is relevant, I did not understand your idea?

In this case, it's relevant. If there is no crossover and there is subwoofer gain, increase the subwoofer gain.

Hi VoidX !

I downloaded Cavernize. However, neither the portable version, nor the regular one cannot be launched on my computer. I have Win 10, I installed .NET 8 Desktop Runtime. When I click the icons, nothing happens. A black window appears for a second, then it's gone.
Please advise

Please try to open it on the command line and see if it prints any error.

With both the installer and portable versions?

One is a setup/demo tool, the other is a conversion tool.

Hi Void X,

Archi (https://archimago.blogspot.com/) gave to me the version of Cavern that finally I am able to start in my computer. But Cavern cannot be used for conversion, as you indicated above. I also have Cavernize. However, when I double click CavernizeGUI.exe, nothing happens. So, I launch cmd (as Administrator) and try to launch CavernizeGUI.exe in the cmd window. Again, nothing happens. However, in Task Manager I can see the process CavernizeGUI.

Can you please explain, how I can use CavernizeGUI to convert a downloaded 5.1 audio track to a 2.0 binauaral track? Is there any explanation how to use this program for conversion purposes?

If the GUI doesn't launch, use the CLI with the -t Headphone attribute.

I tried starting CavernizeGUI.exe with -t, with -h, nothing happens.

I guess this program is too difficult for people like me. I need something more simple, which would be more in the style of X-Media Recode or dBPowerAmp converter. Where you simply double click the program, and it just starts, without any shamanistic rituals with a tambourine around it, you choose the input file, change the settings, choose the output file and click "Convert".

Forget about it.

That is the intended use case. Launch issues are now under investigation and progress will be reported here.

Well, in this case this "intended use case" just sucks. This is my opinion as a user. Take it or leave it.
