Cavern QuickEQ - Basic How to

Do you think a calibrated measurement microphone is an important factor for home room correction?
Absolutely. The only case when it's not, is when you want to keep the character of your speakers and only EQ the differences between them. In that case, the Complex version of QuickEQ will only allow you to use the Smoother curve that does just that.

But numerous experiments have shown that the uneven frequency response of uncalibrated microphones starts at approximately 5 kHz
This can easily be proven false by looking at what calibration files contain. It's very common to have completely uneven frequency responses, just look at how much correction a UMIK-1, iMM-6, or especially an XTZ mic needs.

Do you have any recommendations on which calibrated microphone is best? USB or XLR?
There is no such thing as best, just good enough. Over that level, it barely matters, and the UMIK-1 is over it.

Complete phase correction (like Dirac) is coming
