Cat News?

View attachment 461244

yesterday july 3rd due to hot weather and opening bedroom window a little wider for the air conditioner extractor tube outside the window , i didn't think , Melanie would have slipped though the window gap onto the outside widow ledge , i heard a sound looked and shocked ! she tried to walk backwards and suddenly lost her footing slipped and fell ! i was shocked ! panicked !
i heard her land on a bush the fall must have been 16 feet
i dressed fast grabs keys out the door down the stairs in less than 60 seconds , she was walking around below in the corner next to the building , the outdoors neighbourhood cat , Stick was wondering around , had i not got down the stairs fast enough Stick and Melanie may started hissing with her running off in any direction ?
no of course i don't have video or pictures , there is stuff in the way of the window so even if i tried to reach out grab her ,
well she used one of her 1 lives , 8 left and i don't intend this to happen or be repeated again , blame is on the heatwave , 2nd blame is myself , Bear wouldn't have done that , Melaine is too young and curious and very lucky girl that no injuries , if that was myself or anyone else falling 16 feet , i'd say we'd be in A&E down the hospital , she is lucky she landed on the bush that must have slowed the fall down , and cats usually good at landing on their feet , she is , lucky to still be with me , poor girl
She'd probably been fine without the bush. Cats are amazing at running down vertical surfaces and somehow stopping at the bottom, looking at you and saying "Meant to do it"

Glad she is OK though.

A Persian cat keeps roaming the streets where I live. It looks so out of place, that our vet has him/her dropped off by people wondering if it’s lost!

Our neighbour's tux-floof 'Oreo' is a real daftie - if it's raining as it was yesterday, she'll still brave-it into our garden a little way along from where she lives with her very caring family. She popped in to see us yesterday looking like a drowned rat and was a bit bemused when she came in and we attempted to dry her off before her (usually) daily fuss. First my lap for a fuss, then our son's (he's a bit unsure how to place his legs for best feline comfort...) then settled on my wife's lap for a ten minute siesta, purring her paws off, eyes shut while being fussed, baking sometimes painful 'biscuits' with her paws and claws in the meantime, my wife's knees often showing the marks left. Once dry and sated, off she goes without a care in the world, totally ignoring us now we've been dismissed... She often returns in the evenings just to say 'hello' and maybe also, check the garden, now her 'manor'out...

We can't have a puss or two of our own right now, but I'm so grateful for Oreo's visits. I love her to bits and I think she quite likes me too...

wow, I wasn't even there and I feel as I've been judged insufficient by that stare! :p
Sometimes people ask why he looks so madly, but that's just the way he looks. He's so sweet and cute.

It's an Abyssinian and I get a lot of friendship from him. Even more so after I nursed him every day for a couple of weeks after surgery. That really created a special bond.

I have had two for two months now. The orange is 20 years old, the British Shorthair 5 (my original). I saved the orange from a friend that thought about putting her to sleep every time the poor thing sneezed and had neglected her (mats galore). She is in fantastic shape again, beautiful and playful and mostly sweet (except she's also quite domineering, but they never fight).
