Carver Crimson 275 Measurements

Hmmm... My memory is that it was a small metal brace but it has been a long time. Funny, I remember the cost from the docs we got in class, but maybe not the actual fix?

Anyway, we are way off topic, except pouring gas over the amp might be fun.
It might catch fire all on its own, from what Amir saw.

My (vague) recollection is that, aside from the $11 fix that never happened, the Pinto was not a bad car for its class. My wife owned one when she was in college. The Vega, on the other hand...
Well by today's standards they were both pieces of crap, and even by those days standards hardly shining luminants of vehicle-dom. But a Pinto got us from Chicago to Rocky Mountain National Park (carburetor needing adjustment for the altitude!). And the Vega, I was fond of that, zippy and got me around in college and back and forth to it-WAY WAY WAY better than NO car, eh? But sigh it blew a head gasket on the way home. $100 from a mechanic I knew for the remains and that was that.

They were cheap little cars of the 1970's, but the Pinto was IIRC a decent car for the price and the time aside from the obvious safety issue. I never owned one, though my wife and some friends did, so I do not have personal experience (or very limited driving another's car). I was mostly driving a 3/4 GMC pickup so they all seemed small to me at the time.

I have one of these amps and I actually like the way it sounds. I at one point had two as monoblocks and returned one because I was really disappointed on the power level available at low frequencies, but it wasn't because I didn't like the sound.

Patty Larkin's fine song Me and that Train is based, she has said, on an actual, scary ride in Colorado in a snowstorm in a rented Pontiac T1000. The T1000 was a badge-engineered ;) morph of the Chevette. Admittedly, the Chevette was not in the same ignoble category as the Vega (nor the Pinto), but it's still probably a memory that Detroit would rather forget. ;)
