How is cardioid radiation pattern achieved when building a loudspeaker? Are there different ways to implement it and how it works? If someone has already created a thread about this, could you share the link so I can find out? I've searched but haven't found it. Out of pure curiosity. I like to learn and understand..Thanks.

Cardioid implementation. How?

There are two main categories:
1. passive cardioid: these use the backwave of the driver in some way to create a cardioid(ish) pattern. See here for some inspiration:

2. active acrioid: these use additional sets of drivers and DSP processing to create a similar pattern.
