Can't chose between Pebble Nova and Kanto Ora

It causes zero listening fatigue.
not an easy question, and may be I would concluse same as you… I’ve also read many people not happy with little electronics issues sometimes. It’s hard to make a choice behind a screen !
I fully agree with MarkS : best would be to order several models for testing.

iloud mircro monitor:
Size: 18cm x 13.5cm x 9cm
Can be put on its side but when tilting upwards you need to make something for it and because of its depth the required height may be an issue.
Good sound, not fatiguing but does not play very loud.

the better pro version:
10.6 cm x 20.6 cm x 15.8 cm

I've had electronics issues with iLoud MTM (power supplies failing)
No idea if this is also an issue with micro monitor as the electronics are different.

Thank you all for your help.

I still haven’t made a choice.

It seems that with so little room, desktop loudspeakers will be nothing more than a « nice to have » together with my DT880 headphone which stays the reference.

I also tend to think that coaxial + spherical is a safe combo.

Edifier, Kanto, iLoud… I might order all of these to compare… ! Need to find enough time to do that correctly.

With that being the case, I think we've come back around to the Kanto Ora probably being your best bet. Something from the iLoud lineup would also work well, if they're available for a reasonable price in your market. "Listening fatigue" is usually caused by elevated treble. We don't see that in the measurements of the iLoud Micro. However, another possible cause could be distortion. If the measurements from the review of the iLoud MTM are any indication, then if you are trying to use these at anything more than a moderate listening level you are going to run out of headroom quick.

That said, the Kanto Ora is also a little speaker so it's not likely it has much, if anything, more to give in that regard. That's just the territory you're in with speakers this small.

... I also realize that time is an asset too : life is short, my goal is to make music, it's not to transform my desk into an audio lab (even though I used to design and build MOSFET single ended A-class amplifiers when I was young :))

Anyway it's good to join a forum with passionate people.

Hi all,

I finally purchased Pebble Nova.

I'm overall very satisfied, and especially for a reason I hadn't planned : the built-in EQ !

I started to use HouseCurve two weeks ago and measured other speakers at the same place. Wow... What a frequency mess a desk is in a small room :)

With Pebble Nova, the built-in EQ made it very easy to reach a somewhat flat curve. It's also very handy because I can set it using the mobile app and there is no delay -> comparing presets is instant. And it works whatever the input. This little EQ is a game changer.

Now that the freq. response is really flat, I benefit the pros of coax & spherical loudspeakers : excellent dispersion, clear bass, no resonance... Basically I don't "see" the loudspeakers with my ears. I just have a scene with rich and detailed mids, and dry bass.

Happy also with the handy L/R switch.

A really great setup for an audio-friendly desktop, and a perfect complement to my DT880 for composing & mixing.

nb :
1) I confirm that without EQ, trebles are a bit weak by default
2) HouseCurve is a must have
3) Obviously I can't compare the sound with Kanto Ora's, but now that I know an EQ is necessary whatever the loudspeakers, no more questioning
