Cannot get AV menu to display on TV

Thanks, i should have been more descriptive with my reply, sorry my bad.

The reason i am not elaborating too much on source settings is because i currenlty have an old car amp connected to the pc, and it plays 100% with the standard pc settings, and the car amp is much less powerful than the nad amp.

But yes sound goes through the mb built in sound card, i always just make sure that it is outputting at 40 % then up it to 80% on really soft tracks, but basically the sound card is acting as a pre amp one could say i guess. on top of that i use a software EQ. which really makes a big difference as well. EQ APO.

So sound levels from the source is as it should be, it drives the little 100w x4 car amp to its max and thats louder than the pioneer speakers can handle.

Speakers i have is 4 ohm 80 watt peak pioneers. Measuring the tweeter impedance shows 8 0hms though... None the less i assume overall it might be 4 ohm speakers (that's what the label says, problem is you wont find the specs on these speakers anywhere, sh309 pioneers (if you search that you will come across a SUV-s309 or something similar which is not the type that i have)

Anyway i have not measured the impedance of the woofers but. the label on the towers say 4 ohms. So though i have doubts if have to trust this for now.

I will also be driving wharfedale speakers xarus 4000 which is 200w. They are 6 ohms. But only after testing it with the pioneers to see if i can get the amp to play as it should.

So wrt your question i believe you probably also was thinking about how the amp would need to be connected and adjusted so it can be best compatible with the 4 ohm and 6 ohm speakers, thats what i also would like to know. perhaps i should select speaker A and and B to begin with and i guess i will have to connect them to the fron outputs.

I just pray/hope that something in the amp menu will unleash the amp's full power, which i am dearly worried about that it might be a hardware issue. But with luck perhaps not.....? Perhaps i should set up the audessy mic as i got it with the amp...?

The reason i say 40% is not precise, its just a guestimatte, the car amp goes really loud compared to the nad almost twice as loud.

It just sounds like the NAD has less gain than your car amp. This isn't really an issue unless you simply cannot get as loud as you'd like. Generally, your best bet would be to have the source, in this case your PC, set to max volume (unless you hear audible distortion/clipping, then turn it down until that is no longer present) and just adjust the volume on the NAD.

If you really need to increase the gain, instead of using the speaker controls it would be better to simply adjust the gain on the source control:

Still only increase it to the point that you can get as loud as you need and no more.

Ah...Excellent, thanks for that tip. (there is a bit of a background story not mentioned)

The amp was playing only through one channel, once the other channel came back briefly but went dead again and never returned. I sent the amp in to a technician, and he did not tell me what he did but he was able to get both channels to work, (he either replaced a part or he somehow got into a hidden ?? channel setting without the remote)

i only got the remote a while after i got the reciever back from him.

However as i stood there at his place, he cranked the volume to full power (on the amp knob itself) He had small speakers connected directly to the amp and it sounded soft. (way softer than speakers could handle) Thats what is concerning.

Anyway i will hook up the 2 fronts this week and test, and try increasing the gains at the source menu if it could possibly / hopefully be adjusted to get full power out of the amp. Will revert back with the results when tested. Thank you.

In Tuner mode (built in) analog bypass works %100 it has full power, not sure what the technician did but it worked ! ....

However stereo mode is soft.

I have not tried source inputs yet as i had to move the amp to an old tv for osd away from my pc as source. i hope they work. i am trying to get an old phone or ipod to plug into source 1.
