Agree, but shurely 24 bit on the digital side is technically better than 14 bits? , You also have the recording marginal , about -10 dB to avoid clipping in A/D when recording real instrument in a concert hall.Ever record anything? Theres always noise. Room noise, instrument noise (especially elect. guits), mic noise, syths etc have electronics noise, preamp noise. If you get a signal thats 80db above the noise your doing a good job, youll never get 100db S/N.
Its fantastic that we now have digital systems that have much better resolution than all analog electronics, something one could only dream of 25 years ago.
