Hi to all,

I have built a boombox inspired by Paul Carmody – Isetta. Since it was an old project, I’ve done my twist to it link.

Being a maximalist (very, very bad thing), I have ordered an Umik-1, downloaded REW (in order to measure it like I’m building a spaceship) and guess what I am stuck even though I have read many post (ppataki, Keith_W, and so on) it is still unclear how to properly use it, so your help will be greatly appreciated.

What I’ve done so far

  • Make sure all Windows sound enhancement are off.
  • Loaded the cal file of the Mic. (0) degrees.
  • All effects in ACPworkbench are off.
  • Ran multiple sweeps and RTA, while in RTA mode I figured out (could be wrong) that one of the dip at around 70Hz is room/wall/down firing port related.
  • Settings:
  • RTA 1/48
  • 1/48 smoothing
  • 32k
  • Exponential 0.88
  • Hann
  • 75%
  • Done measurements outside
While moving the speaker around I can see clearly improvement in 75Hz range.

And this is my first attempt:

Questions:

  • Crossover – how do I know where/should I
  • How do I apply EQ filters in ACPWorkbench after REW spits them out and where?
  • EQ REW filter shows headroom of 5dB, should I decrease the gain and where Main, Left, Right?

It is getting lengthy post, so if anyone is still awake and willing to help I'm attaching my measurements below.

Thanks!
