hi i live in a small apartment with 220v wall outlet power supply for av equipement.

i am wondering if i can setup a jbl 29 for movie speaker. what is 70v or 100v distributed speaker line mentioned on spec list ?
is the horn tweeter a compression driver?
is it bass reflex enclosure like jbl 4309 or sealbox enclosure like mk s300 or ls35a?

It's a PA thing for driving a bunch of loudspeakers from a single amplifier in settings like retail or schools and such. Via built-in transformers, speaker impedance is transformed up to the point where normal electronics with modestly-sized wires can drive them over potentially significant distances. Which comes with some typical transformer problems, mind you.

The spec sheet answers the rest of your questions. 1" compression driver, BR. Also, DI is a bit disconcerting, with more than the usual woofer/tweeter mismatch and resulting high-midrange dip... I guess a 2.5 kHz XO is a tad on the high side for an 8" 2-way, this choice may have been geared more towards output than fidelity.

Speakers without holes usually do not exist.

From what I found you can bypass the constant-voltage transformer and run it like a normal 8-Ohm speaker.

If you like the sound I don't see any problem using it "at home".

You would need a distribution amplifier instead of a standard amplifier. Everything about this system would be optimized for the opposite of your apartment setup, so I would avoid it.

There are no problems connecting these speakers to a regular amplifier, see the datasheet.
Another question is how good they are.
Personally, I support using 4722 if you need ready-made unexpensive JBL speakers for use in an apartment.

The 29AV isn't bad sounding for a sound reinforcement speaker. It's fairly punchy and reproduces percussion quite well. From what i recall it didn't have much bass.

does jbl make cinema soeaker with sealbox design? i heard that movie theater speaker are sealbox .
i am afaird jbl 4309 as bass reflect can't sound like movie theater speaker.
have you be aware of how vibrate of bass that movie theater speaker can produce when there is normal sound level conversation of movie charater ?

JBL inwall (Synthesis/Consumer) are sealed, most of the rest are ported.

JBL pro that does speakers for movie theaters - 100% are ported. (might have missed one or two surround speakers)
