can I filter the "new posts" page?

Can I view the "new posts" page but filter out certain forum sections? For example I might not want to view the new posts in the for sale section, or the off topic sections. On another forum, I was able to add some extra stuff to the URL to filter out certain sub forums and it works great. Is there a feature like that here?

I don't think so, no.

However you can watch sub-forums, so could focus on that list only for new posts in those sub-forums;
