Can I damage my amp or dac by plugging in my gameing headset?

Hello,
I am a newb i was just wondering if i plugged in my gaming headset which has a mic into my headphone amp will that damage anything because the gaming headsets 3.5 has an extra contact than my "audiophile" headphones 3.5 termination.

I plugged my headphone with mic 4 conductor 3.5mm into my notebook 3.5mm stereo 3 conductor connection for years and it works fine. Have you tried yours to see what happens?

I actually have it hasent broken but im just worried cause i paid a lot.

Hmmz... Well the extra (4th) 3.5mm conductor ring is for the mic and switch and if it is connected to ground it doesn't matter. You should be OK.

Splitter like this can come handy. Just plug the green jack.
