I have two questions about simultaneously using both of the digital inputs (i.e., AES, S/PDIF) on an RME ADI-2 Pro FS R when it is in USB Multi-channel mode:
1) Can the RME ADI-2 Pro FS R be set to Internal Clock and apply automatic sample rate correction (SRC) on both the AES and S/PDIF inputs at the same time? Or, is it only able to use SRC on either AES or S/PDIF at any given time (but not both concurrently)?
2) Can a consumer S/PDIF (RCA) output device be connected to the ADI-2 Pro's AES (XLR) input if the cable is relatively short and appropriately wired?
The scenario in question is connecting two consumer digital devices—e.g., Waxwing (phono pre-amp), CD/DVD—where both streams are then routed via USB to a PC for mixing and Room EQ. And do so without the RME's clock needing to become Slave to one of those devices.
[EDIT] updating with answers I received on the RME Forum:

[EDIT] updating with answers I received on the RME Forum:
1) There is only one sample rate converter, so it can either be used on AES or S/PDIF but not both.
2) It should work, provided the cable length is relatively short (<3 meters). The higher the sample rate frequency, the shorter the cable length.
