Hi everyone!

Many of you probably know that I am developing the other models in the Cadentia series. Including a 3-way centre channel model, Cadentia C.

The Cadentia C project started quite a while ago, but has been on hold since I have to prioritise getting the Cadentia 3 into production.

I came back on it this year, but I still haven't quite settled on the design for one reason - I think it's a bit tall .

When designing a centre channel commercially back in the companies that I worked for, we usually try to make it as short as possible so it can fit under more people's TVs.

But for the Cadentia C, I am trying to reuse the same mid-range/tweeter waveguide section on the Cadentia 3, to maintain acoustical and aesthetic consistency.

That will put the height at about 26.4 cm

The overall dimensions are 26.4 x 62 x 28 cm, so not too deep at least.

So I just want to seek some opinions here - Will the 26.4 cm height be too tall for your setup, making it a deal breaker?

I appreciate your input.

And here's a bit more spec and info about the Cadentia C:

3-way sealed design

- 1.1 inch TPCD Tweeter
- 4.5 inch TPCD mid-range
- 2 x 6 inch paper woofer

Sensitivity: 88dB/2.83V

Impedance: 4Ohm

Bass extension: -6dB @ 50Hz

Due to production capacity, I would like to transition my focus more toward the finished products in the future, so the kit version of the Cadentia C will be a limited release.

Thank you.

The added height is a fate of all 3-way non-coax centers.

Revel, Perlisten, Ascend, Philharmonic, all are in the same ballpark.

If they can carve out a niche with their models, then the Cadentia C should slot in just fine.

Those that want 3-way performance with 2-way sleek design will buy KEF.

Just my 2c, but feel free to disregard as I'm not in the market for one, unfortunately

Stereophonic sound was meant to be a 3-channel system with same speakers. Not many can hide large speakers behind false wall or compromise with the TV placement and use same front speakers at the same elevation. KEF is quite alone in this segment offering a real solution if you need something thin.

Concur with @staticV3. Your Cadentia line is already 'done' - just make as similar centre as possible (similar polar and same phase response) to it. If you want inspiration for your next line, then a non-coaxial arrangement could be a waveguided dome mid+tweeter. Like Klein+Hummel O300 (or Monoprice Monolith) but not as utilitarian looking.

Reusing the waveguide from the Cadentia 3 is a smart move. I really like that it will visually match the front speakers.

That said, 264 mm makes it look a little on the bulky side. I'm assuming the 244 mm refers to the front baffle height? If so, maybe that could be the total height instead.

Another possibility could be to make the waveguide slightly smaller, as long as it doesn't affect the acoustic performance. Perhaps reducing it by 10–20 mm might still work?

264mm is fine for me, even if it's on the bulky side :) audiofirst, beauty after

The look reminds me Monitor Audio. I’m curious about the expected pricing of the Center.

It is fine. The bookshelf that’s 3” off the floor below my tv is 11”d and allows something 18” tall. I would build the center after I finish the stereo kit.

pls put me on the list for the kit.

Damn, your making a whole home theatre set at this rate. Any chance of a matching subwoofer set for the Cadentia line?

Pretty much everyone can raise the TV (to an IMO more suitable height anyway) so that the front speakers can be correct. It’s a matter of priorities.

Height is always somewhat of an issue for horizontal centers but this seems still acceptable. My Revel 426be is 31.3 cm and still workable in my setup. I would suggest to add some native tilting solution (threaded feet like Revel 426be?) for the speaker that is often missed in design and don't think would add that much to the cost.

IMO a little taller than desirable, but for those seeking maximum performance, keeping the same drivers and dispersion of the Cadentia 3 as L+R, the height is a "necessary evil" so to say. Form follows function, "Audio First" after all, right? :)
