Hey guys! It's been quite a while since my last update. It's been really busy in the past few months (isn't it always...)!
The renovation and setting-up of the new office were finally done back in early July. I am really happy with the new place, as I finally have enough space for all sorts of work and storage (well, for now…).
The winch in the NFS room is such a lifesaver to have; now moving a floorstander up to the platform becomes kind of a fun job. It still requires two people, though, for health and safety reasons.
The rest of July and early Aug was dedicated to a very interesting consultancy project. The things I designed and made together with my client will be exhibited at the
GearCon in London on the 18th. It's something quite special, and I am excited about it! I hope more people will go try it out. I can’t share more information at the moment, but I will post about it when allowed.
Then I went on a trip to Taiwan last week. Not sure if you guys remembered, but about a year ago, I shared a custom-made, invisible 5.2.2 surround sound system and room acoustic design project that I worked on for a common room in a residential building in Taichung. Construction was completed earlier this year, and I finally had the chance to visit and set everything up properly.
The following graph shows the frequency response measured at the sofa position. There is no any EQ room correction / Dirac Live applied to it. Its simply a result of the room acoustics design, loudspeaker design and the CABS all working together.
The subwoofers might look big but they are actually thin (15cm internal depth), so I didn't ask them to sing flat all the way down to 20hz due to the SPL requirement and other limitations.
After that, I took the opportunity to organise a launch event for my Cadentia 3 in Taipei on the 15th together with my dealer, Squarewave.
The room was packed that day, and I was genuinely overwhelmed by the passion and enthusiasm of everyone who attended. Many people stayed well after the event and continued listening to music until the shop closed!
We also had quite a few people from the industry joining us, as well as university students studying electroacoustics. During the Q&A session, we had some really in-depth technical discussions, which took the event to a whole different level beyond a typical Hi-Fi demonstration.
A huge thank you to everyone who came to the event (I know some of you are ASR members too). It was lovely to meet you all, and I'm very grateful for the enthusiasm and thoughtful discussions.
