Cadentia 3 Product Development thread / Audio First Designs

Thanks Matias. I agree.
Cadentia3s in da house!
Talked the UPS guy into putting them in the entry way.
Remarkably unblemished outer packing considering the shipping distance.
Early Friday evening delivery here in PNW.
Will unpack Sat AM.

Kudos to Harry on this transaction.
Super smooth & professional.
First transcontinental purchase.
Based on my experience, I can recommend Audio First without reservation for any US customers.
Understand it's basically a blind buy for significant coin.

Next step, picking a pair of subs...

sealed Rythmik subs should do

Question for Cadentia3 owners.
If you also purchased the OEM stands, did you fill the pillars with sand or some other "deadening" material?
The stands are substantial as is but I've always filled stands that accommodated it.
I admit I never AB'd before & after just assumed it couldn't hurt except maybe my back.

Bought the DIY kit and made my own version with a bit of inspiration from the Wilson Audio Sabrina

Quite impressive looking. Do you plan to make any measurements of them?

Wish I had the skill necessary to do some thing similar.
Maybe sometime in the future. So far, I’ve only measured them to make sure they’re working as they should.

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since my previous update.

First of all I am happy to share that my recovery went really well, and I am back to like 90% normal life. Still can't really play sports for now, but hey I am just happy to be able to move some big speakers around by myself!

In the past two months, I have been busy looking for a new office - I am running out of space! My current office really doesn't work well after I started producing finished products. Not enough room for storage, and when the NFS is running for R&D / consultancy work, it kicks me out. George and I have been doing quite a lot of work in my garage since the beginning of this year, and have held some listening demo events in my living room. But the business can't continue operating like this; a proper office is needed.

I was surprised by how difficult it is to find a suitable place within budget here; the typical ceiling height in the UK (2.5m) is also not helpful, as the NFS won't fit. But eventually, I found a place further away from Cambridge that works for me. The re-partitioning and renovation work is being carried out at the moment:

The new office will have a storage area, areas for production and prototyping, a dedicated room for the NFS (see the photo above, two-storey tall) with a beam at 4m height with a winch attached so I can move a floor-standing speaker up to the platform safely. Upstairs will be an office space and a listening room. Treating the listening room will be another major project this year (I will do it in a very cost-effective way to begin with). When everything is done, I would like to arrange a little open day event this year and invite people to come over for a little tour and listen to some speakers (new product and prototype!). I am very excited about it.

Regarding my products, there are some severe delays on the next batch of the Cadentia 3 kit. The workshop promised to deliver the baffles at the end of April, but due to some spray paint related issues, they couldn't, and need to redo it. They just shipped it back on Monday, finally. So I will start processing the kit orders next week. Thank you for your patience, my dear customers. For the finished version, the cabinets are coming next month.

I am not making more kits this year, as I want to shift my focus toward finished products, and there are just too many things to deal with right now, including some long-term consultancy projects that I am working on. So if you are interested in the Cadentia 3 kit, better order it now...

I am making good progress on the Cadentia 2, now just waiting for samples of the crossover and cabinet. I will release a kit version of it in Q3 this year, but it will be limited. The finished version will be in Q4. The next thing is the Cadentia Centre and.... A subwoofer! I can't promise the release time period, though.

Thanks for reading, and wish you a lovely day.

Great update Harry, glad to hear your recovery went well.
I would love to visit the new facilities when you have an open day. I'm also in Cambridgshire.

Very nice! Though I would have tried to match the width to the baffle, match the diagonal of the baffle to the back chassis, and build an additional baffle in front to level with the original. But all details, the idea and finish is fantastic.

Omg those look stunning! Congrats! How did you integrate the tx woofer? Same crossover ,no mods?
Thanks =)
Everything was bought directly from Harry, so I haven’t made any modifications myself other than building the cabinet differently

Obviously, yes.
You need to read upstream a few pages.
Won't take long.
I was an early adopter in ordering the TPCD woofer.
Shure may have been earlier as he actually built his awesome adaptation.
But no matter.
I did see the part where Harry said he "may" offer all textreme as an upgrade, and he said there may be some benefits of the textreme woofer, but I don't believe he mentioned what it is. My missed, should of use AI to check before hand.

I asked him about it for the center channel. He said only if there is enough interest. So if you want a matching set for home theatre. You would need regular for both if there isn't enough interest in it.

Hi Harry,

In a previous blog post, you mentioned customizing and building an immersive surround sound system for a client in Taiwan using in-wall horn speakers(along with 4 subwoofers). I was wondering how that project is progressing. Any update?
