Cadentia 3 Product Development thread / Audio First Designs

Hello!
I have just finished the Cadentia 3 a week now and I m blown away by these speakers
I have owned numerous custom speakers with scan speak revelator drivers and seas excel, also b&w ,wharfedale and have listened to many high end speakers but Cadentia beats them all by far. There s so much realism and details from this speaker and is not difficult to integrate them in any room.
I use them with my diy open baffle h frame subwoofers. They do go very low themselves but I m a Bass head and need a bit of headroom with bass ;)
Amazing design @Audiofirstdesigns_Harry !View attachment 517043
BTW,I use the Wharfrdale Linton 85 stands for them, they fit perfectly ;) for those wandering about stands..this might be a good option.

Wonderful! Glad to hear that you are enjoying them.

I used to have a pair of open-frame subs (18 inch) too for a 2.2 system with the Fidelia, it was good fun! My neighbours love them.

Haha, sorry for the neighbours and I m surprised you used almost the same setup.Open baffle bass is amazing ,so natural and clean.
Btw Harry maybe you develop also a subwoofer design for us :)
Looking forward for you to finish the Cadentia 2 as will be my in my second setup ;)

I currently use siegfried linkwitz’s lx521 open baffle bass modules with a pair of heissmann dxt mon 182 sitting atop. perfect height. then 2 dual-opposed 10” subs nearby.

but when I build the cadentia kit, I am going to mothball the open baffle bass units because the cadentia is so much larger. yes, the open baffle bass is more natural sounding, but practicality will win out for now. I will cross to the two sealed subs at 80hz. the two 10” dual opposed subs go loud and deep with a linkwitz transform applied in dsp.

I couldn't have put it better myself. Looking forward to see what Harry's going to pull out of the hat next...

Well, here you go...

Some opinions needed!

So,we will also have a subwoofer eventually :)) I believe you will make the whole 5.1 setup..

A matching subwoofer(s) sounds like a great idea!
I like the way you think.
That's my next decision, a matching pair of subs.
A flat to 20Hz iPurifi powered sub, dual opposed 10" would fit my current ideal.
DrCalinB needs to post more pics & system details.
Pleased you're pleased
Anticipating owners need to know:cool:
I like that Harry likes bigass subs

To the replies about component redundancy etc.
I have always looked at systems from the pov that less is best.
I had 2 systems without a preamp, variable lineout source>power amps>speakers.
I found that a good preamp in the chain actually improved the sound quality.
Can't objectively defend it but subjectively, undeniably superior for me.
2 or 3 source inputs vs 1 is irrelevant to me with an appropriate preamp.
What if I added a turntable or cassette deck. :p

FWIW, I spend as much\more time viewing music releases as audio gear.

As for your request, here is my current setup:
Source : eversolo t8 and pro ject carbon with ortofon bronze cartridge
Dac: fiio k17
Pre: ayima t20 with source uphrade and genalex gold lion tubes
Amp: rotel Michi X3 mk2
Speakers the amazing Cadentia :)
Subs: 2x15 inch Sb audience 15ob350 in open baffle h frame with minidsp and 2x aiyima a70 monoblocks
Next upgrade the Laiv Harmony dac

Not sure the Laiv could be classified as an ‘upgrade’ I don't believe it measures that well, sidegrade perhaps.

Are you reading my mind, sir?

The first batch of finished Cadentia 3 are all sold out! They are definitely going out of the door quicker than what I expected...

The next batch of cabinets wont come until end of April/early May, which is a little too long. I will see what I can do to fulfill the demand at the mean time...

Just QC-ing the last few Cadentia 3 to be shipped today:

Seems like I am maintaining a pretty good production consistency (see the almost overlapping impedance curves on screen).

I'm not surprised, this is a very complete speaker, at a very good price, and it looks good, if you like speakers that look like speakers.

My Cadentia 3 arrive this afternoon (thanks @Purité Audio & @Audiofirstdesigns_Harry for organising so efficiently). I won't be able to compare directly to my KEF Blade Two Meta, but will hopefully be able to provide some useful, albeit purely subjective, insights nevertheless.

Mani.

Very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
