Buying a new CD player

I use Sony ES models and have them recapped. One of the best I've ever heard or used. Recapped they run about 3-500.00 usd.
I've had several and never had a caddy problem. New, a blue ray will do if the cheap caddy holds up. 99-150.00 usd. I've seen
a lot of then that won't open or close correctly behind dust and never being cleaned or serviced. I have a Samsung that is 16
years old, it works perfect.

I have a Server/LP phono stage that is bulletproof. I paid a little over 1200.00 new and it's 12 years old. Cocktail, excellent
build quality, XLR and RCA. Turntable to HD is a breeze. Server to another preamp C2500 is really nice, with complete tone control in
the mix.

Regards

Doesn't this have a digital out? If so, just get an external DAC if you feel the inbuilt one is sub-par in some way.

There is one "disadvantage" to using dvd and blu-ray players as a CD player. The front panel usually doesn't show the track number that is playing and the elapsed time.

True... if using as a purely CD player only without being connected to a display. Personally my BD player is front and centre of my system... used for watching DVD/BD's and playing CD's, so that in my case is displayed on the screen.

What components are you currently using?
Why do you feel the need to change?
Why discs? (My partner has problems with touch screen interfaces and stuff, which is why I have them)

Consider things like the user interface (remote, buttons on the device, information on the screen) and the other facilities you need, now or maybe in the future. Those things do vary between devices even when the sound doesn't.
I currently use: an oPPo 205 UDP or a SONY RCD-W500C. Both are rather bulky. But I have them in a good location in my systems custom for me cabinetry.
Not looking to change per se, just looking for an additional one. That is of a more normal size, yet of great true 16 bit capability as my others are).
I hope that they all will sound the same (I should not be able to tell the difference, as there should be none).
Also, I have no display in my system and would like the CD player to have it's own (but comprehensive) display.

I'm surprised anyone would want to replace or complement an Oppo 205 for any type of disc playback. Maybe you'd better say more about the display requirement to point towards the solution you need.

There are people who repair old CD Players, installing new belts, replacing lasers and other things.
Now, it could be that they have one that parts aren't available for, it's uneconomical to repair or they just want a new one.
He never said it was broken, from what I recall reading.
And asking “why” is not a crime.

Galliardist's question was addressed to the opening poster, in order to circumscribe its needs, not to you ! ;)

I do not have a display of any type in my system (TV, Monitor, whatever, at this time [and I have not had a TV since 2004, once I was living on Islands in the Western Pacific, I eliminated cable & TV [& have never felt the need to replace it since 2007]). So, yes, a good display on a strictly CD/SACD player is an important aspect.

True. But, (right or wrong) I presumed that you wouldn't be looking for a new one unless the old one was no longer functioning correctly.

Are you always this "SNARKY" when someone is just putting out general information?

Sorry for late answer to all, it was a busy week..
So currently my DVD is Elite Pv 4000 , and the AVR is Yamaha RX V2500.
Due to the fact I have bunch of new CD's (250) I want to listen to them on a CD player, using its own RCA DAC, because I think that the DAC on my AVR Yamaha RX V2500 is not good enought..
Speakers - Klipsch RP8000 and also DYI project horn with Visaton BG20 speaker.

Is this model Denon DCD 900NE good, or DCD 1700NE is much much better for it price, how about compared to Panny UB9000 or Marantz CD6007?

It’s an old AVR, but I doubt it’s very bad.

Maybe a new AVR is a better choice? It will have vastly improved room correction, giving a much bigger improvement in sound quality.

Yeah, for sure I will change it also one day, but I am zero aware which ones deserve my attention :D

That is probably untrue.
Wanting one, and needing one, are different.
But usually the speakers make more of an objective difference than the source.

No idea.

The Denon DCD 900NE would be a great choice for playing your CDs. It offers optical and Coax outs so you can use it as a transport if desired. That's really all you need. The Denon transport is excellent.

The DCD 1700NE gives you SCAD capability but you don't need that for traditional CD's so why pay 250% more? It's not going to sound any different than the DCD 900NE.
The UB9000 is a $1499 Blu-ray player that's going to sound the same as the DCD 900NE with CDs.
The Marantz CD6007 is a nice CD player too but it's not going to sound any different than the DCD 900NE with normal CDs.
It may support additional home burned CD formats if you create your own CDs.

The inner photographs of the Denon DCD-900NE and the Marantz CD6007 on the aforementioned websites show that the CD mechanisms of both player are of the same type.

Edit : I was responding to amper42's statement, since deleted by the author, that the CD mechanism onboard the CD6007 could be better than the one in the DCD-900NE.

I reviewed the CD6007 here and will review the Denon 900NE with the same test set next week (or latest the following week).
I can confirm the CD6007 reads my burnt test CD(s). But I never had any CD players not reading it, even with the oldest ones.
Cheers

Well, that is good to know.
None (so far) are so bad that they won't read the test CD.
It will be peculiarly (in a VERY BAD WAY) interesting if you find one that does not read the test CD.
