Burson Soloist 3X Grand Tour 2023 - Teardown, personal thoughts and a few measurements

The thread is some days old, but I would like to come back to it, to get a better understanding.

In this image of the Soloist 3XGT there are three pairs of opamps visible:voltage gain stage, input buffer stage and volume control buffer stage.

Some of you often use the TWO terms I/V stage and LP stage. How do they correlate to above THREE stages?

TRL you said the following:
When used strictly as a pre-amp, the audio signal goes into one pair of V6 Vivid opamps, then into the MUSES 72320 volume controller, then it gets to the output pair of V6 Vivid opamps.

Which of the three opamp pairs is explicitly meant?

I am asking since I am using the Soloist purely as preamp and I want to get a better understanding which opamps will have the most influence on my listening experience and why.

Thanks
Kurt

Hi,

IV and Low Pass Filter stages are usually related to DACs, also LPF exists in most amplifiers too.

IIRC, input buffer and voltage gain opamps are the ones mentioned.

Thanks. So when used as preamp the volume control buffer is 'meaningless'? Isn't it strange, since I control the volume I am listening at with the Soloist...

Best
Kurt
