Building a Hybrid Media Room with Dutch & Dutch 8Cs – Advice Needed!

Your sense is that you need more absorption given the high channel count? That does make sense. The GIK representative said to put as much absorption in as I can tolerate dollar wise.

I have received the same advice from GIK consultant and end result was rather disappointing. But this is topic for longer discussion.

The TV was installed. All I can say is wow. The level of immersion is significant.

Does anyone have any thoughts on putting an 8c or 6c under the TV and angling it up toward the listening position? I think either will barely fit.

My plan was to get a Genelec 8351b/8361a and turn it horizontally. The 8c/6c can’t be turned horizontally. I wonder what the dispersion would be like at 10ft.

Go for it ! Identical LCR speakers is always the best solution.

Hi Fidji,

Sorry to hear your consultation with GIK did not have a great outcome. In most cases, this means we did not properly identify the objectives in your room. I'm not sure how long ago you did your consultation, but we've made a lot of internal changes to make the consultation process go more smoothly with better outcomes for everyone.

If you like, feel free to reach out to pick the consultation back up. If the results were disapppointing, let us know how they were disappointing, which will help us understand how to make improvements toward your objectives. You can either reach out to the same consultant you worked with previously, or if you prefer reach out to me directly and I'll take a look and make sure you are matched up with the right person. If the consultation was more than a few months ago, then I'd suggest starting a new consultation with us so we can help you get things right.

One of the biggest challenges is that we have a very wide product range, so we have many ways to solve a given problem. Choosing the solution that's exactly right for you is what we aim for, to deliver the best possible results within whatever limitations we're working with (usually space or budget related).

Hi, sorry for the late reply - all good now - it was around 2022? and it was my first stab at acoustics treatments. Meanwhile I have done lot of upgrades to get where I am today, from what was basically an anechouc chamber to 90m3 with avg TopT 0.26s.

As you can see, I am quite loyal customer, meybe even deserving to be featured on your webpage ;-). I really liker your polyfusors and 2D plates look cool.
As I have now controlled <100Hz thanks to Waveforming, I can afford to remove even more absorption.

If you can get in touch with me re , how to improve rear wall - want bit more diffusion and less absorption, whil still keepinf inder-ceiling bass traps, ideally adding some diffusiomm plates? or changing panels to limited range absorption?

Basically I wan to lift T20/T30 between 200-800Hz couple of notches by removing broadband absorption.
