Hi All,

I've been given permission by my better half to set up a reasonable sound system at their house. I already have an amplifier and speakers (rotel rb970mkII and Revel M16's). I had been looking at the Wiim Pro Plus and thought that's what I would get until I learned it does not have a sub out. I know I could still connect a sub, but I'd like to be able to do so while using a high pass filter around 80 or so to free up the Revels a bit.

I'd considered the Wiim amp while not using my rotel amp... but I'm not confident the Wiim would have enough power. The space is quite long... open concept...den area, eat in area, then kitchen, so I expect I'll benefit from more power than the wiim amp has to give.

Interested in something like the Wiim that has an app for control, and is compatible with Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, plus points for Alexa. I've considered the Yamaha WXC-50 but am a little concerned about their amp interface. Are there other options that I'm missing?

Thanks for any help.

I'd give the WiiM Amp, or the new Amp Pro a try. Can always send it back if power is insufficient.

To keep the external Amp, a WiiM Ultra would work.

Are the Wiim Amp Pro and Ultra available in the US yet?

I think wait the couple weeks for the wiim ultra. It has sub out with bass management, meaning (I think) you can remove the signals below 80hz or so to your bookshelf speakers and send it to the sub. Looks like it has all the connectivity. You don't need an amp, that 970 is gonna be just fine. Seems like the ultra is quite a good preamp, I would go that way myself but I just picked up a Rotel RC-1572mk2 pre which I send optical toslink from a chromecast audio.

WiiM Ultra is, and seems to check all the boxes. Hook it to your existing amp and I think you're off to the races.
Crutchfield says available July 5th.... perhaps another retailer or directly from wiim?

Oh, you're right, duh. Well, I would agree that it's worth waiting a bit, you'd have to spend a good deal more or get multiple boxes to replicate the functionality from stuff that's in stock now.
