Budget 2000€ : Streamer, DSP, DAC with Dirac Live & 2 subs, if possible stéréo

Yes Redacted, you are absolutely right. I know almost nothing about digital sound systems with PC and software and multichannels, only about two weeks I learned about the difference between spd and dac so yes, I am a beginner.

And what Zola shares, more of half of it is for me impossible to understand. It is qbout learning a new language with its grammatical rules and so on.

What Zola gave me however was a great solution to begin listening to music, and make measurements with REW.

So next thing is to buy a WiiM Ultra or a Lyngdorf 1120, get a Quboz subscription to listen to music after some basic measurements for placing my speakers. To set up some absorbing objects like furnitures in my naked room, panels on the sides and begin to listen to music.

Parallèle to this I will buy a DAC for a 5 year old PC, change the SSD hard disk and install a minimalistic windows 11, the only reason for the PC at the moment is to learn about correcting sounds and learn what everyone here shares as a hobby.

Thank you Redacted.

A PC on the same network as a WiiM can just send streams to it.

Local output has other purposes, but for music listening and getting that over to the stereo, local output, dac etc. are redundant.

My idea is to set up a WiiM Ultra with amp or a Lyngdorf 1120 to begin to listen to music.

Parallèle to this and totally independently was to buy a small DAC and connect it to a pc, use my old alientek amps and learn to use software and so on, perhaps in a second room, I will see.

@Redacted well I tried to simplify cuple posts up (#109), and well when I try to give additional info I have to be more detailed.

To be able to form crossover you nead a aditional chenel to where you will redirect what ever you cut from main one. More XO's more chenels and it needs to be synchronised by a bus clock like it is on every PCM DAC. That's most important to understand. PEQ has just cuple types of filters in only two categories (simple PEQ's for frequency peeks [as you don't do deeps] ones and set of pass/self low and high ones for XO's and shaping filters, three parameters to handle and main is Q - quality with a bit of math behind it to understand models. It's all visual so not that hard to understand really when put visualy in front of you and that's about it, nothing more to it. Of course when you do it and as more you do it it becomes better because you learned rather good what to expect and how to achieve it. Again read @Keith_W booklet (attached to it's profile description) for starters, he did explain quite good how and why in it.

Thank you. I will check out the booklet by Keith.

The idea to set this up on the pc is to teach myself, and if I understand, filters set up in the pc is more efficient than physical crossover filters in the speaker.

Since I do this as an exercice to learn I suppose I can use Re-Phase instead of an external DAC ?

REW / Re-Phase / JRiver.

Are there other software needed ?

Don't set yourself up for technical misery. Get some music playing nicely first!

Try EQ-APO and REW, re-phase is one of many VTS plugins. I use MFreeformPhase and their Convolver MConvolutionEZ. Learn PEQ's and crossovers and how to aim phase match that's in booklet. Do try out and REW simulator regarding positioning and what you can expect in rectangular rooms. It's a little peace of software and does a lot of things good and it's easier with what it supports directly. JRiver ain't directly supported and Q PEQ range is a bit different (decimal after 0.) so you type them directly.
