Budget 2000€ : Streamer, DSP, DAC with Dirac Live & 2 subs, if possible stéréo

Looking for a Streamer, DSP, DAC
with a Dirac license
(or capacities for a Dirac licence)
and at least a 2 subs capacity, if possible stereo
for around 2000€ ?

I was not aware of what Dirac really is and can do so
now that I have learned about this software and
after all this research to get started in digital HiFi,

I'm probably going to abandon the WiiM Ultra
because it's incompatible with Dirac Live and several subs.

This is contrary to all the help and many recommendations here
but this help was based on my budget of 500. I hope that my
questions will help others.

So now I increased my budget to 2000€ which is not a whole lot of
money if one compares with the past when the digital did not exist.

The Dirac is important to me because although I intend to learn REW,
I might not have the capacity of learning REW for corrections,
more than sharing measurements with you all.

Also, I am saving up some money by keeping my 2 old stereo class D amps
for now, I will upgrade them later.

and invest now in a €2000 in a
Streamer, DSP, and DAC
that either includes a Dirac license
or is at least compatible with Dirac
and that handles at least 2 subwoofers, ideally in stereo.

No, I am not into heavy rock, but more about classical music
that has lots of tones in the lower register
and I am now inspired and honored by the views of Jim Smith.

Buying separate components for
the streamer, DSP, and DAC separately
isn't out of the question either,
because things evolve quickly,
and one can this way change just one component at a time.

The most important is the sound, and although Jim Smith says that
all the corrections we search to do here with the sound-out-put
is only treating symptoms and the real issue is the room and
placements of speakers and listening position and indeed, many
of you here keep repeating this to me and I agree,
but still, I would like to begin this adventure with a system
that is more "open" than the WiiM 2.1.

Thank you for any suggestions.

The only things that I know of that offers DSP on top of DIRAC Live are a miniDSP and a PC with appropriate software.

So a MiniDSP Flex + WiiM Mini would work, or a PC/MAC with multichannel soundcard can also act as a streamer.

Thank you Woodooless.

If I have to go using a PC to achieve this, then I will accept.

What about :

MINIDSP SHD STUDIO Processeur Audio Numérique DSP SHARC ADSP21486 Dirac Live Lecteur Réseau Volumio 1200€

or

MINIDSP FLEX EIGHT Processeur Audio DSP 2x8 Channels SHARC ADSP21489 XMOS Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD LDAC 800€

Here is another comment from a professional source I translated from french :

There are DSPs available with a license, for example

However, their use is not ideal...In theory, the correction should be done exclusively in the digital domain, but here, since it's analog, an ADC is used upstream and DACs at the output.

This results in a loss of quality, and you're no longer listening to your original source but to the DSP's basic DAC...

Get the flex 8 if you need more than 4 channels (multichannel active speaker).

The SHD studio streamer is kinda limited, digital only. IMHO. Not worth the money. The DDRC is kind of legacy.

Dear Woodooless. Thank you.

Whaooo....

I just read a very long discussion here on this forum by someone searching for an automatic correction like Dirac Alive for a 2.2 system, two main speakers and two subs.

A 2.2 system with Dirac Alive seems impossible today if one wants to stay below 2000€.

I am perhaps taking the wrong path once again, trying too hard to get everything too perfect when WiiM has blasted the world with a simple and very good system, even if not perfect for 400€.

All we can say is that WiiM has done a great job for what they are offering for 400€ so I will buy my
WiiM Ultra with two 3E A7 mono's and take it from there.

Perhaps WiiM is reading these lines and maybe the futur will have more WiiM surprises.

Thank you Paul.
What is this about, never heard about this brand.
Is it a Streamer, DSP and DAC ?
Looks very interesting but no test here on this forum ?

I’d even forget Dirac and buy one of these instead.

Quite excellent and Room Perfect is exceptionally good. And even better with two subs.

You can pick up a used one for around £1200/1300 too.

The 1120 is an amplifier/streamer/dac with the magical Room Perfect correction inbuilt.

I have had one for five years and I would only ever change it for a TDAi3400.

It drives my quite tough speakers very well even without the subs taking the strain.

It is so versatile it’s hard to know where to start. Certainly the best money I’ve ever spent on hifi, or anything else for that matter.

It also has built in PEQs to use with REW either before or after RP if you wish. I never have, but it’s there if you want it.

All in it seems tailor made for what you need.

This is like a WiiM ULTRA AMP then, I will check it out. Thank you.

Room Perfect and the ability to handle two (stereo) subs entirely without the least seam, and no effort, is, alone, more than enough to distinguish it from others that may seem similar but cheaper.

Do you know of any measurements from a reliable source? I’ve never found any.
There are some here:

Amir measured the 3400:

It isn’t pretty..

This is literally what I proposed in post #2

Mini is enough if you only need the digital output.
yes you did actually, interesting.
What I meant was that I did not see this solution in other discussions on this forum.

I suppose that you then mean

MINIDSP FLEX EIGHT Processeur Audio DSP 2x8 Channels SHARC ADSP21489 XMOS Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD LDAC

with a mini wiim and a PC.

I have to figure out how this will work then, if it is not an overcomplicated setup to figure out ?

this sound pretty amazing, yes ! so how does not everyone talk about this one, perhaps it just came out ?

Why flex 8? Do you need more than 4 channels? But really, the price difference isn’t that large, and since your goal is some experimentation, it might make sense.

The flex was mentioned multiple times in those other topics of yours. Others also pointed out that you don’t need the WiiM ultra in that configuration.

This is how Amirm ended the test of the big brother TDAI 3400 :

For someone starting fresh and aiming high, the Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 makes a ton of sense and causes you to forget the issues I found in measurements of its electronics.

Overall I am happy to give a recommendation for Lyngdorf TDAI-3400. Its room equalization is a joy to use and makes a fantastic difference to your listening experience.
