So you think a better looking design would be the same price?

Y'all realize your coveted good looking amp would cost more, perhaps a lot more?
Depends. As far as I have understood buckeye's philosophy, he wants his cases done at USA (or Canada, I may be wrong).
The same cost done at far Asia would probably result at cases you may see at very expensive amps.

But even the Europe made, plain ones are not expensive, at all, compared to the cost for making nice monoblocks like the reviewed ones, have a look:

They would even help with thermals at high continuous output.

Oh please. Strongly disagree. Design is not manufacturing.

Oh, I missed that, fully agree, yes, I already posted what it takes to be (so pay too) a good industrial designer.
But that's an one-off cost, you get the goods and spread it through your production.

Sokel, can't see basically specs, on modushop. Where am I going wrong?

Unsure why some go as far as calling the case "ugly"... looks fine to me. What does an amp need to look like?

JSmith
This is a good example (IMHO) of a well finished case. It doesn't look like a high school sheet metal shop project.

Thermal specs you mean?
They do state heatshink sizes, it's not hard to do the math after that.
A 300mm x 100mm x 15mm heatshink for example is at the R th = 0.8 K/W area.

Of course, a solid front panel costs more. Depending on manufacturing capabilities—and I'm only talking about the front—it's sometimes possible for an extra 50 bucks. That's roughly what it cost for my Italian DIY 19" 4 or 5U 6mm aluminum front panel when I remember right, and this is a huge front. That's certainly the exception and not easy to do or find, but even at 100 bucks for a small one, it would be worth the extra.
It's good as it is either way; understatement has its own charm.

Sorry, I thought it was a finished mono blok.

Thanks big times for this review !

Now the most difficult part for me: how could I ever justify purchasing a pair of those ?
Hard times, really !
you wont really hear the difference so there's no proper justification apart from "i wanted it", Buckeye's own NC502MP would be all you'd want i'd say let alone NEED, bros cooked so hard it's hard to justify their better products

Uff Da !

Thanks Amir!
A perfect black box. Shame I am a frick of blue lights and vu meters.. ;)
Same here, it's an ugly case for sure but what it gives out.....it's worth the coin.

If the only real nitpick is aesthetics, it means our products are performing so well there is nothing substantial left to critique.

I'll take that all day everyday, especially since aesthetics are subjective whereas performance is not.

I consider this to be the best amplifier ever measured on this website, due to its exceptional watt-per-performance-per-price ratio. The 9040B is specifically designed to drive demanding 1-ohm and 2-ohm loads, which I think justifies its price point.
Agreed!!!

cant wait for someone to say these amps are too sterile, analytical, flat and non musical :p
