Buckeye PURIFI 1ET9040BA Amp Review

I don't believe so. It's higher pitched than 60Hz - It's more of a whining sound akin to what I would associate with a failing capacitor.




No. But that's my fault. The amps are in the basement and the speakers are on the main floor, so I can live with the situation. There are a few reasons for my slowness.

First, I’m in Canada, so everything is more of a PITA. I dread the idea of dealing with getting the amp back and forth to Dylan, so I’ve been putting it off… It’s like a toothache in my mind that I just live with because I don’t want to go to the dentist.

Second, I was really hoping to find some pattern or causality - like if the AC was running or whatever. The best I can surmise is that when the amp turns on, it is quiet for the first 2–3 hours. Then it buzzes for about 2 hours. Then it quiets down again. If I leave the amp on 24/7, it seems to settle down and end up quiet.

Basically, I have workarounds that have made me complacent, but I still have to get the amp swapped.

GPU cards are notorously known to have their power inductors 'whine' (high-pitch) when handling large current transients. Probably, yours is caused by the coils in your switching power supply.

Hm, Buckeye definitelly has to freshen up its web site... I bought two PURIFI 1ET9040BA thinking I was going to get two small boxes similar to topping/fossi offerings. I remember Stereophile said the amps were unbelievebly light, so, that went in line with my expectations. Buckeye web site shows the amp picture that didn't make me ever think it might be bigger than an aiyima amp.

Then I got the box... it was huge and heavy.

These things are beasts, nothing to do with TPA3255.

They do look like high quality products in real life and you will need space for them.

Yes it was. But people don't read. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the amps.

The status led "color dance" is also a very cool touch!

Dylan shows case sizes on the products pages. Your definition of "huge and heavy" is much different than mine.

My definition of "huge and heavy" predates 2026. Not all of us were born yesterday. Besides, there are plenty of huge and heavy amplifiers available today, just well out of my price range.

Specific to our Mono Input Boards, we added a delayed start-up that also changes the color of the front LED to indicate the status of the MCU before it changes to normal solid Blue.

I am still very much enjoying my Buckeye Purifi 1ET6525SA 2 channel amp.

It looks cool. It's like waiting for the "click" on the old amps
