Buckeye Amps: New US based Hypex multichannel amplifier builder, line-up announcement!

Do they offer the same kind of noise protection and shielding as truly balanced cables?
You can't get maximum fully balanced performance from an unbalanced connection. However, you can maximize the best possible performance for this particular use case (unbalanced preamp to balanced amp) using the Hypex cable recommendation. Brief and concise explanation of which is given in Section 4.5 of the Hypex "Pin 1 problem" .pdf, as well as the use case specific Benchmark RCA->XLR amp cable, both linked to in this thread.

Dylan, can you tell me a bit about how the Fourier setup was using your amps? The top covers were off and they were connected to the drivers with a DSP? or other crossovers attached per channel? I really did not understand what we were seeing and hearing. In many of the rooms you can get a 15 minute demo about how different their 2 way or 3 way speaker is from the rest. Fourier was the room that really need a full debrief, but we didn't get much info when we asked.

As an aside, the Scanspeak room was getting very good sound from a normal budget system with some of your monos. Which model was it? Thanks.

Fred would have the better explanation of everything. I was merely the "power" provider for this project from the start. The DSP and crossover design was handled by Fred and his team. I plan to be more involved once we begin to design an all in one solution for their needs/package.

Regarding Scanspeak, I actually was not aware our amps were being used so I cannot comment directly on which model.

An update regarding the current tariff situation:

Unfortunately, due to the current 10% baseline tariff on all goods coming from the EU (which affects both our Hypex and Purifi components) we are finally forced to raise prices on all of our amps to offset. The price increase will not be severely drastic and, for most customers, should not affect the price vs. performance of our amplifier lineups.

This decision was not made lightly and is something I have been wrestling with for a few weeks. It might surprise most that we have not raised any of our amp prices for nearly 2yrs, even in the face of slight cost increases and inflation. But with our main components now affected, it is unavoidable.

Even with the price increases, I still believe we are poised as the audiophile for the masses brand we have always strived to be. And with this situation being fluid, prices can always come down if the current market situations change. We will also be exploring opportunities to lower prices in the present atmosphere, if possible, through higher purchasing power and/or manufacturing sources.

Thank you everyone!

Probably best to wait until the dust settles to buy an amp. It's possible Tariffs will not go into place or will only last for a short while. Everything is in flux with the current re-negotiations in play.

The tariffs are already in place, as the customs bill I received from my lastest Hypex order proves.

Not yet by law but some manufacturers are hedgeing their bets by raising prices now.
Great excuse to raise prices and make a little more money.

Neither Hypex nor Purifi raised their prices. The charge I just paid was a 10% Tariff, levied by US customs. I am looking at the bill in my hand as we speak.

There is no law regarding the tariffs as everything is being done via Executive Order. As of right now, there is a baseline 10% tariff imposed by the US on all goods coming from the EU (along with a long list of over countries).

The United States and the European Union have both announced a 90-day pause on new tariffs and retaliatory measures as of early April 2025. This reciprocal delay is intended to create space for negotiations and potentially de-escalate the ongoing trade dispute between the two economic blocs.

But a baseline 10% tariff is still in effect on the EU from the US. Please check your facts before being misleading.

Tariffs are so much fun! We pay more for nothing new and manufacturers never know when they are going to change. Surprise!

There has been so much back and forth with our government that I suspect 99% of people don't know exactly what is happening.

Oh I agree. It was just more if someone posts a news article it means they likely searched so could have dug a little deeper.

But in everyday passing, yes a lot of people are probably not properly informed due to all the back and forth.

Tariffs are protectionist, favoring local manufacturing, but of necessity inflationary when so much is imported. We pay large tariffs to other countries, probably far more than most folk realize. For decades companies for whom I've worked have been dealing with tariffs from the other side (as exporters to other countries), getting hit by (sometimes huge) tariffs by them and making it difficult to compete given typical U.S. labor and tax costs compared to other countries. But of course many parts inside the things we exported came from overseas and thus would be hit by the current tariffs, your amps being a prime example. The global economy is not necessarily fair (for anyone) under the current system, but one could argue it will not (and perhaps should not) ever be. Hopefully things will stabilize soon.
