DWPress had photos of his room...

Then Thanks!

I am still thoroughly enjoying the new Buckeye amp. As I mentioned, the mids have really seemed to open up. I wouldn't call it bright or fatiguing but I have attenuated them some with EQ. Nothing measured, just a personal preference. I'm waiting for the Okto to arrive before I do a new series of room and speaker measurements to see if the subjective feeling is backed up by objective data against last springs measurements as nothing else has changed in the system aside from the amps and going to balanced connections.

Great photo of your space. Would like a speaker description as well!

Also, interesting presses... what do you do with them?

The speakers are homebuilt based on enclosures I first came up with 30 years ago and keep trying to refine. Because of the lack of space I'm forced to rig them in the air like that - so why not go big and use sensitive drivers? They have a F3 of 37Hz, Q of.88 and are 91x57x34cm and 179 liters and are sealed enclosures. Crossovers via miniDSP at 350 and 2500Hz but also at around 70Hz going to 3 subs (some overlap in frequency). 16x20x10 foot room with some treatment.

The "listening room" is the bindery part of my printing operation here. I make books the old fashioned way.

*edited to indicate non-ported speakers

I believe Todd is going to try switching out the front screws with some Hex heads he found. If they end up working OK, hopefully he can post a pic or two and I can pick some screws up to have on hand for those who would want that look over the Phillips.

Just finished a 2 channel NC502 with all the connections and wiring in place to add a second 502 later on easily. Literally just four screws and 5 minutes of time.

UPDATED 11/16/20

Hey all,

Long-time A/V enthusiast with an extensive history on the AVS forums and more recently following this site for all the technical and objective expertise. After months of looking for the best amplifier setup over the summer, I went a DIY route and built a 4-channel NC502MP and 6-channel NC252MP build using Modushop cases. One of the reasons for the DIY route was the lack of sellers in the US, and at the time of my needs the offerings of US sellers was limited.

I found putting my amplifiers together a fun "hobby"/relaxing during the nights after I got home from school (working on a PhD currently). So I got to thinking, could I offer a no frills, low cost option for US buyers without much overhead/need to charge more than necessary to turn a small profit while providing a quality product? After a couple of weeks of spitballing and working on a case prototype that is cost effective, I believe the answer is yes.

PRICING:

In the 19" wide x 14" deep Aluminum Case (2U):
8 channel NC252MP, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $1549 shipped
6 channel NC502MP
, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $1649 shipped

In the 17" wide x 12" deep Aluminum Case (2U):
6 channel NC252MP, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $1249 shipped
4 channel NC502MP
, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $1079 shipped
4 channel NC252MP
, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $849 shipped

In the 12" wide x 12" deep Aluminum Case (2U):
4 channel NC252MP, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $849 shipped
2 channel NC502MP
, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $679 shipped
2 channel NC252MP
, XLR inputs (Neutrik), 12v trigger, Power LED = $529 shipped

* For those who know they do not need a 12v trigger at all, I can knock $15 off the price per module (so 2 channel amps would be $15 off, 4 channel amps $30 off, etc)

* Discounts available for those purchasing two or more amp builds

* Mixing and matching NC502 and NC252's are possible when using the 17" and 19" wide cases

I am keeping a low stock of parts until I can see how much interest is out there. As I said, this is not going to be a main source of income or business for me. More small profit margins since this is going to be a hobby endeavor and an entry level offering for those in the States. If it gains traction, a website may be up and running by the end of the year. Until then I am open to PM's. As long as I have the modules in stock, turn around time for building would be 1 week maximum.

I understand if people have nice RCA cables already. If that is the case, the Emotiva RCA to XLR adapters for $8 work perfectly (and are wired correctly).
It appears the Emotiva adaptors are female XLR to female RCA. How, again should adaptors be wired?

I have one NC502 left on hand with an order of (12) more shipping this week. According to Hypex, they will be out of stock of 502's until the end of the month (I guess there is a shortage of at least one component necessary).

Still have a few NC252s on hand with more shipping mid December.

Couple of recent orders being completed this week.

Thanks everyone for the business! Hoping for a good review when Amir gets to the amp LoneStar dropped off. I have made a few small adjustments to the build since that first amp (smaller vent slots, heat shrink covering all mains connectors, etc)

Down to one NC252 on hand until restock is available from Hypex. Still taking normal order time on 502s as I have more coming this week.

If anyone wanted a 252 amp but didn't need it immediately I'm still taking orders they just won't ship to the end of the month.

I got my 4 channel 502 yesterday. I am using it for LCR in a 9.2.4 setup and everything sounds great so far. I am thinking of building a 3rd sub and will use the extra channel for that.

Just a note on the bridged amp buckeye made for my dual 15” subs. the amp replaced a Bryston 14bsst. At a fraction of the weight and much lower energy usage the new amp is wonderful. Plenty of muscle, produces very clean bass as loud as I want it. Super quick build and delivery. My stereo cabinet now is all class d and about 15 degrees cooler. Good job buckeye.

Got mine yesterday. Excellent communication, quick shipping, packaged well. Just hooked it up a few minutes ago - maybe 3-4 songs in and it already sounds fantastic relative to my old Onkyo. If I like it this much straight out of the box I can only imagine how happy I'll b with it after some burn in.
Thanks Bro.

All caught up on current orders. I have plenty of 502s on hand so anyone looking to go that route can get them done well before Christmas.

Also, switched to brass speaker quick connects for pure aesthetics per a recommendation

Big news: After looking around for some better deals on parts (without sacrificing quality) and being able to now order bigger bulk with some capital behind me from initial sales, I will be introducing lower pricing on all offerings. Updated price list to come soon!
