Buckeye Amps: Hypex NCx500 Official Thread

NCx500 3ch Amplifier is an absolute joy. It really opens up the Revel Be speakers. Could another Hypex NCx500 module be added without overloading the Micro Audio SMPS2K power supply?
It wouldn't overload the SMPS but there is no 4th connector on the input board/space

The NCx500 with the Micro Audio SMPS2K is a beast. It just keeps getting louder without distortion. My wife cranked it up to very high SPLs Saturday night for over 3 hours. No fatigue in listening.

@Buckeye Amps, congrats on the win.

What's the best custom color combo you've seen (other than red and white?) :) Photos would be awesome if you have any.

Do most customers pick the buckeye gain stage or leave these stock? It's not relevant to anything, just curious.

More technically, at 4 ohms and 4v input, the ncx500 is 700w vs the 500w ncore line, or 1.5dB. Do I have that right?

The Micro Audio SMPS2K runs cooler than the Hypex SMPS3KA700 without any load. I think it would be a real winner regardless of Hypex or Purified amplifier modules.

Just bought the 2 channel version from Buckeye. For speaker wire can you use banana plugs or just bare ends? Thank You

I have been using the 2 channel Ncx 500 for a few days now with the ELX towers and 2 Rhytmik LV12M subwoofers and MiniDSP Flex balanced. The amplifier is great, does not get hot and I can listen for hours without any issues. Dead silent. Overall very satisfied with my purchase. Thank You Dylon.

Unless you plug/unplug/replug often - bananas are an extra thing in the chain. I know they all say they're made of 100 karat gold for $8, but who knows what you're inserting into your sound really. I use bare wires

Open up any speaker or amp and you’ll find some very not impressive wire and connectors. From a performance standpoint, it doesn’t matter. Bare wire into the binding posts is fine and so are banana plugs. Neither is going to perform differently.

Do you have any objective data to back this up?

Oops. I don't want to derail the thread. To get us back on track...

Thoughts on using a spare pair of NC502MP channels to power Crowsons? Their 500-watt @ 2-ohm amp is rated to drive four.

That's pretty close to the 450-watts @ 2-ohm rating of the NC502MP. I would love to use these channels instead of buying and making room for another amp.

Can the Buckeye Hypex NCx500 2-channel be purchased with the Micro Audio SMPS2K power supply?

An update regarding the current tariff situation:

Unfortunately, due to the current 10% baseline tariff on all goods coming from the EU (which affects both our Hypex and Purifi components) we are finally forced to raise prices on all of our amps to offset. The price increase will not be severely drastic and, for most customers, should not affect the price vs. performance of our amplifier lineups.

This decision was not made lightly and is something I have been wrestling with for a few weeks. It might surprise most that we have not raised any of our amp prices for nearly 2yrs, even in the face of slight cost increases and inflation. But with our main components now affected, it is unavoidable.

Even with the price increases, I still believe we are poised as the audiophile for the masses brand we have always strived to be. And with this situation being fluid, prices can always come down if the current market situations change. We will also be exploring opportunities to lower prices in the present atmosphere, if possible, through higher purchasing power and/or manufacturing sources.

Thank you everyone!
