Who would benefit most from that kind of upgrade Dylan? Thanks! The Micro Audio SMPS1k-SN power supply upgrade is now available to be added during checkout on the website. ETA for the Micro Audio SMPS is 4-6wka but you can preorder now.

Those wanting as much power as possible for under 4ohm loads.Who would benefit most from that kind of upgrade Dylan? Thanks!
I think to take advantage of it you’d have to be running high gain likely and then you’d get the 200 watts extra into two ohms…. You can work out how much louder that would be on 89db speakers…. I’m not sure if it’s be audible? Those wanting as much power as possible for under 4ohm loads.
The Micro Audio SMPS is also going to be better for continued power output (Sami stresses his designs thoroughly)
Of course. It is mainly, like the 9040 itself, a good option for those who want the best regardless.I think to take advantage of it you’d have to be running high gain likely and then you’d get the 200 watts extra into two ohms…. Yes. Want to get the AP situation sorted first. And then do a proper side by side measurement of the Hypex and Micro Audio (again)Hi Dylan, you posted measurements a ways back with the MA PSU, and mentioned you were going to also post hypex measurements. Is that still the case?
You will find these amps to be audibly transparent, thus sound the same as other amps with low output impedance, linear frequency response through the audible range, low noise, and ample power reserves. You will be delighted with the size, low energy use, and lack of heat of the design. You may also enjoy working with a company like Buckeye and a responsive entrepreneur like Dylan.Hello All from Canada,

I have a question for Dylan at Buckeye that I thought might be better posted here instead of direct email so others in my shoes may benefit somewhat
Dylan I'm seeking a fast and energetic sounding amp.
I was looking at a pair of your Hypex NCX500 monos until I discovered your 1ET9040BA mono option
Can I expect the Purifi to be better for speed and liveliness? Am I even on the right path considering either option in my search for a fast sounding amplifier?
Please forgive my lack of technical knowledge and descriptions and thanks in advance

It’s the comfy chair for you.Alright I broke down and used audiophile terms, feel free to have at me all![]()
"Speed" and "liveliness" are nonsense words cultivated by the audiophile press. What they tend to mean is actually a certain amount of coloration and distortion, and if that is what you like, the Purifi will probably be a disappointment for you, as it is simply neutral and transparent.Dylan I'm seeking a fast and energetic sounding amp.

Presumably other than voltage gain!To simplify things as it pertains to this thread/amplifier:
The Purifi (and Hypex, as well) amps, including the 1ET9040BA, will not add to, subtract from, or in any other audible way alter the source sound.
Presumably other than voltage gain!
Mainly things like power (do you need or want more power that the 9040 offers in monoblock form), timeline (sometimes one vs. the other is on back order or limited stock), state of the art...some people just want THE BEST there is even if it isn't an appreciable audible upgrade.Dylan, if neither alters the sound, what would be the main reason for me to choose Purifi over Hypex....if any?
If I may interject but don't take what I think as written in stone etc. I've been wrong before. The reason I would go for a more linear power output from a high power amp is for improved imaging due to much better flatter frequency response.Dylan, if neither alters the sound, what would be the main reason for me to choose Purifi over Hypex....if any?
Pithy and accurate.Yes, there is science in understanding how the mind perceives the measured sound. That doesn't mean the perception itself is science.
