Hi Friends! I have been reading this blog since the last 5 years. But this is my first thread.

Im looking for a power amplifier for my Penaudio Sara S speakers (87 dB/1m - 4ohms ).
I have a budget of maximum 1,500usd. So i have been able to narrow the option to two awesome options:

1) Buckeye 1ET6525SA (State of the art Class D as far as i understand)
  • 230 watts @ 8 ohm / 450 watts @ 4 ohm
  • SINAD aorund 105 D/B ??? (Theres no current ASR measures)
2) Soncoz SGP1 (A more classic solution, less power ¿Different sound signeture? )

  • 120 watts @ 8 ohm / 205 watts @ 4 ohm
  • SINAD 106 D/B

In terms of power, both are pretty much more than enough for my needs since im listening at 1.8 meters.

So, In your opinion which one should i choose?

Thank you!
Have a great Day

Rodrigo

Welcome to your first ASR thread. Neither have a sound signature and both are fine amps with plenty of power for your needs, imo. That leaves features, looks and cost. Performance wise, you're not going to regret getting either amp, I think. Do you want a big yellow UV or Buckeye's plain black box... it's up to you and your budget. The owner and builder of Buckeye, Dylan is a member, so you have access to the person that can address any issue, which is a plus. Enjoy the process.

Hey! Does the difference in class A/B vs D Could make a difference in aspects like Speed or Rythm ?

Ditto to BillH, there's a reason why you've never seen a mention of these attributes along with "sound signature" in any of Amir's electronics reviews, they don't exist. The choice between these two amps is, for this discussion, visible not audible (as I "see" it  ).

No. Both accelerate at pretty much the same speed when dropped from a top floor window, and both can do the waltz pretty well.

... also, both can handle an audio signal changing many thousands of times per second (20kHz) and neither can randomly slow down or speed up that signal.

Thinking about like that - it just doesn't make sense to talk about 'rhythm' in electronics :)

Unless you are an audiophool journalist without technical understanding and need more mumbo jumbo words. I actually feel somewhat sorry for the poor guys and gals that have to try to come up with subjective descriptions of differences in same-sounding gear.
