Buchardt E50

IMG_7556.jpeg

Stop teasing us Mads!

Hopefully a pair is going to Erin or Amir as well.

These will be seemingly very similar to the March Audio Sointuva, down to the measurements. I'm guessing it will be mostly down to a style choice.

Also here is a somewhat clearer blurred image of the supposed measurements

I hope these aren’t the measurements of the E50!

Interesting comments on the webpage regarding subjective sound quality.

Is the sound for you?
The E50 has a very mature sound. It carries a resemblance to the Buchardt house sound, which is neutral with a slight lean toward a laid-back and comfortable character.”

Those are some pretty speakers for sure.

To the Sointuva WG specifically, the one that used waveguide tweeter and paper woofer like this E50. The AWG uses aluminum woofer, with a little lower bass extension.

Let's wait to see if the final measurements still have this integration dip between woofer and tweeter responses.

There's always a possibility of solid wood getting cracks especially with the grain. Dutch and Dutch have been known to Crack. The most vulnerable period is in the winter in cold climates with indoor air getting very dry or in very humid climates. According to their website they say these factors were taken into consideration with wood selection and proper drying and treatment. Personally I would use a little furniture oil on them during the winter.

I know of only one example ( from 70 odd pairs sold) of an 8C developing a crack, which D&D immediately replaced.

Surely that must have reduced their re-sale value why didn’t you just send them back?
D&D are really excellent in terms of response and actually fixing issues.
I have had one pair develop a crack Jon who posts here, a customer broke the small return attempting to take the base off and a reviewer dropped one!
Once I did have a solid wood turntable crack literally into two pieces that was dramatic!

Not really this was during the pandemic, the cracks didn't go all the way through, just cosmetic. I sold them for what I gave minus the cost of the stands I threw in and shipping. Not sure if they've redone their stands but they kinda sucked with those cheap stick on spikes that never stayed on. I modified some outriggers. Anyway back to the topic. I'd rather forget my D&D foray.

Edit: I had to remove the base to replace the LED light they sent me.

Sorry about that, bad timing, the D&D stand’s spikes have always been threaded as far as I am aware and the base of the speaker/top plate threaded too.

There are multiple Sointuvas with cracked cabinets as well..

Close look at the way the cone attaches to stand. These might screw in but they were attached with a double side sticky disc. Still appears to be so.

I modified it bolting these to them, made them more stable.
