Regarding the repeatedly mentioned “2 kHz dip,” I would like to briefly clarify my own measurements.
All measurements were taken at the listening position using REW (SPL & Phase, 1/12 octave smoothing), under consistent conditions and in an acoustically treated room (bass traps, absorbers, controlled early reflections). The microphone was positioned at ear height at the primary listening seat.
In my measurements, there is no distinct local dip in the 1.8–2.5 kHz region. The response shows a smooth, gently downward-sloping trend starting around 1 kHz (a typical house-curve characteristic), but no isolated several-dB depression relative to the surrounding midrange.
A true 2 kHz dip would appear as a clearly defined notch compared to adjacent frequencies. That is not visible in my data.
Since this frequency range is highly sensitive to listening distance, microphone height, and floor/ceiling interference effects, different setups can certainly produce different results. However, in my treated room and at my listening position, the often-mentioned presence dip cannot be confirmed.
Subjectively, I also do not perceive recessed or hollow-sounding vocals; midrange reproduction appears stable and natural.
I simply wanted to provide this clarification for completeness.
