Buchardt A500 Measurements and Spinorama

I am a big fan of the S400 and A500 speakers because I think they do some things better than other brands, but I wouldn't recommend them at 1.5 meters. At 2 meters you can start talking. But, I don't think you're really "cooking with gas" until closer to 2.5-3.0 meters as recommended by Mads.
While this is probably true, they do have near field master tunings. I just have never been in a situation where I'd need to use them like that.

@VintageFlanker Can you clarify how the above relates to the A500s - are they discussed here and at what point in the video?
Bug in my browser sharing from the lastest video link I posted on the forum...

Sadly it's the same tweeter and to me - owner of A700 and S400 before that so living with Buchardt for almost 3 years - it's their only weakness, maybe it's a strong word, not their better strength.

I'm assuming the weakness addressed here is LFE compression at moderate to higher volumes.

Happy enough with the A500s as they are, but wouldn't be opposed to purchasing a fully upgraded variant (drivers/cabinet/electronics) in another 2-3 years.

have you had issues with the tweeter(s)? based on the test data from Erin's review, the tweeter does not appear to display any problem behavior?

Nothing wrong with the specs. I really think tweeter are all about personal preferences. I listened to hundreds of speakers over the last 30 years and every time I had preference (big time) - on string instruments more specifically - for esotar 300d (on every model of egglestonworks), then scanspeak revelator and then good ribbon tweeter (scansonic and raidho), almost every other one were not to my taste, like beryllium tweeter for exemple or all the one in the JM lab then Focal range and I had the chance to hear almost all the line including the real monsters, some silk domes are pretty impressive (to my ears) but to me there is something missing.

Odd how there's no option w/ the default hub. Granted it's not ideal, but Room EQ is super important *esp* for something that will likely have improved low end performance.

I always have a question
Is not the cabinet too small and too few mdf?
If the a500 set the 3 way profile, what about the cabinet resonance?
The a500 only weight 9kg for being an Active with subs hmmm

I’m actually surprised it’s not more expensive.
Regular A500s: 3500€
Signature Edition: 4900€

Honestly "cheaper" than expected, but still not cheap by any means.

Not an issue at all, as far as I'm concerned. For some objective standpoint, check Erin's review.

i actually like these with grills on, i think using hdf and purifi was the right decision, wonder if this limited run turns into regular version later., or is it 50 now and never again..

either way im tempted, bc i need new amp/dac and speakers (havent updated in a while..)

can someone share their use case and how well their platin hub work (how good is room correction in the hub as well),
will using analog input make a better use case with A500 (mini dsp) or ...

much appreciated
