As for the JBL 305, I'd consider that a much weaker link in your proposed chain, in terms of "transparency". Bass roll-off, harmonic distortions easily produced and measured.

For sure. But I still want a good dac.

I am now both "ASR Supporter" and "ASR Senior Supporter". That adds up to 75% of "ASR Extreme Supporter".

I got answer from BSS now regarding BSS BLU-BOB2:

Latest hardware version: 1.5
DAC chip: AK4396VF

This is the internals of my BSS BLU-BOB2. I do not see any version number.
Is it version 1.2 maybe from 2013-03?

I checked the backside of my unit now. It has a sticker saying Hardware: V1.5.

I would love the Okto, but I donated my last cents to this site (I also bought an way to expensive mountainbike recently). So now I am stuck with the old BSS!
And maybe the BSS is good engineering after all. I would really like to find that out.
