Brainstorm with Douk Audio: Help Design New Digital VU Meters (Rewards Inside!)

If I can add my 2p worth?

Whatever style the display is, please please can we have a true-peak mode, as that's the only one of relevance for signal levels, unless it's just for looks.

If true-peak isn't possible, then at least a Type 1 or even Type 2 PPM as an alternative. All the other display options like VU or Spectrum analyser would be great as well, but the whole instrument needs peak indication.

could maybe done with dual needle designs ;-)sum/dif or right/left but a hack of prgramming needed i guess....

Personally i would not bother about this. Unnecessary programming. Just use which has pleasing colors with contrast which can be clearly seen at distance.

Would focus more on accuracy, display on/off, etc function.
Regards.

Edit : sorry i thought this would be included in an amplifier. It seems this is standalone VU meter box.

I have bought the Ampapa D1 now and really love it, i use the VU meters even with my main amp, I use the pre-out from the main amp to go to the Ampapa and I have an Amp switch so I can additionally switch between my main amp and the Ampapa, makes a lot of fun the little one!

Addon: since the D1 needs really a high level signal i have a line driver in between to gain 4db so the level meters fit the main amp ;-)
Since the main is an AVR it does only reach 1,6V level instead of 2V (which he does only if its end-amps are switched off).
