It is a trade off between more power and cleaner high frequency response.Any reason anyone would prefer the Purifi modules vs the NCx500 variant when it offers more power ?
Other than the casing, what's the main difference between the A series and the Arthur versions of the 4216/E2, and in what use case would one be preferable to the other?
The main differences Arthur – A series are as following:Other than the casing, what's the main difference between the A series and the Arthur versions of the 4216/E2, and in what use case would one be preferable to the other?
| Arthur | A series | |
| Input buffer/gain stage – gain | 3 levels | 2 levels |
| Input buffer/gain stage – topology | Composite | Standard |
| Input buffer/gain stage – regulators | Ultra-low noise | Standard |
| Input buffer/gain stage – PCB | 4 layers | 2 layers |
| Wake sources | Audiosense | Audiosense and 12V trigger |
| Switches and connectors | Neutrik, NKK, Schurter | Noname |
| Cooling concept | Conduction | Conduction and natural air convection |
| Chassis | Full aluminum with Nextel paint | Steel and aluminum |
Technically yes, but according to their datasheets, under 10W and 4 ohms both are below audibible levels: < -120dB artifacts. And 10W in these high frequencies means that a ton of watts would be used on the other frequencies, as music content is like -40dB at near 20 kHz. So these below are "worst case practical scenarios" for treble distortion while listening to music in high SPL.It is a trade off between more power and cleaner high frequency response.
My usual response to this question is that the NCx500 is useful for people doing heavy handed room eq without subs. Others should choose the 1et6525sa that runs much cooler.Technically yes, but according to their datasheets, under 10W and 4 ohms both are below audibible levels: < -120dB artifacts. IMO I would say the more significant trade off is that NCx500 has +200W more power into 4 ohms, while the 1ET6525SA has -3.7W lower idle losses (heat like of an LED light bulb).
