Bookshelf Speakers recommendation

the rp600m first gen sucks. Mark 2 is better tonally but its only good point imo is its dynamic/loudness capability, it can get loud and the thing still needs eq to sound good unless you like bright presentations.

The RP600M II is double the price of the speakers i mentioned, at least where I live. And that's not good at all imo.

The R 120 SW i cant find anything on but the more expensive R 121 SW is good enough but it's far too expensive for your budget and I don't think any of these would be good for nearfield-ish listening you're doing. Dunno what you see in these. Unless you really like the design and are willing to pay double the price for features you dont want (dynamic range/loudness), the ones i mentioned are all you need. If you're talking about the first gen Klipsch then forget it.
Ok got it, I just saw a few good posts about them and they are not expensive. I will wait a bit to see if the elac get a discount, if not i think i am going to get the diamond 12.1.
And if any other speakers come to your mind to maybe keep a eye on since is "black Friday" month, I will also appreciate it.
Again, you have been incredibly helpful, thank you

Honest question since i have never heard a good speaker. Are the studio monitors speakers better for normal users like me than the typical consumer speakers?
You received a good reply and I believe that you understood the answer. I use Kali powered studio monitors in a bedroom setup and have been very pleased. There are some really nice bookshelf speakers in your price range. Powered speakers simplify the setup if you're going 2.0 or 2.1 by just adding a DAC and you're in business.

can you tell me about your setup? sounds awesome! would love to see some pics as well.

I'll take a pic when I get back to the house. There is nothing special about the setup other than it works well for it's usage. I have both speakers on the dresser below TV angled based on the speakers curve so that in the bed it sounds right considering the speakers are only about 5' apart.

As you can see it's nothing special other than it's a nice solution. The right speaker has the Topping EX5 on top of it and I haven't run the optical cable through the wall yet. The sub is under the bed, so all of it is minimal for the goal.

dang, looks good and chill, probably sounds better than some bloke's big klipsch

wondering though, do the speakers not shake the shelf/are you not scared of the vibrations making the dac fall off

I brought my kali lp6v2 up to the living room yesterday, and while I enjoy them in a nearfield environment, I didn't care for them in the living room. They felt bright and thin in the treble, I messed with the dip switch and brought the brightness down but they still sounded thin. I much perferred the JBL HDI 1600 they were temporarily replacing. I'd look at the Elac DBR62, i have those as well and they are an excellent budget speaker.

No issues at all (more worried about one of the cats messing with the dac, lol). Also, I have four thin pieces of rubber under each speaker, which is more about scuffing. Even without the rubber the speakers would be absolutely fine.

For a bedroom system and with my goal being satisfied, I'm satisfied. You have plenty of options to satisfy your goals, I believe, and stating your expectations (like how load (spl) and how low) for your preferred experience.

Wiim amp ultra plus polk es20. Just add speaker wires and Bob's your uncle.

Yeah, once past midfield no adjustment really helps. I put them next to another set of speakers in the family room just to get an idea of what they could do and at 16 feet they had that treble issue. I thank Erin mentions something about that, could be the LP8 or one of the IN series. For the bedroom they work for me.

At ~$1,000 you’ve got plenty of really good bookshelf speakers to pick from. If you want simplicity, go active/powered (built-in amp = fewer parts to worry about). If you already have (or are willing to get) a good DAC/amp and might upgrade later, passive gives more flexibility.

I need help chosing new speakers, the budget is $1000, they can be active or passive with a dac/amp. They are mainly for movie and video games speakers with good soundstage are preferred.
I've seen on videos that for a 1k budget, powered speakers are the best option, but i dont know if thats true. Thanks for your time
RSL CG3M speakers $210
RSL Speedwoofer 10sMKII $500
Ampaga+Douk Audio D1 DAC/AMP $170
a great near field system for $800

I found a R121-SW used at a good price but then when I wanted another for stereo bass, I couldn’t find that model used so I got it new but it was much more expensive, unfortunately.

Sierra 1’s from ascend acoustics are pretty solid. Combine that with an RSL or a WIIAmp and you should be good, especially from that listening distance.

i was thinking of that! But even those are a bit too big for my TINY desk (for speakers at least).

Welp i found the Adam T5V at a discount where I live and just took the plunge lol im gonna keep those for nearfield and get the C6B later on as a midfield-ish thing. That day will come a LOT later, gonna save up for the sub, wiim ultra and umik-1 now
