Bluesound releases 2024 ICON streamer

my local dealer said to me that the Bluesound mic might be bad and suggested me to buy the umik but the price of the Bluesound is cheaper. So i might get this one just waiting for a purchase link in France

It is recommended by Bluesound - so it should definitly be fine for that particular use case. However, you might have more flexibility with the umik if you plan to use in other scenarios. But thats just a guess.

Oh no it’s just to calibrate my room better but I need to have some help. I think I adjusted badly the volume so the result is strange. But i have an old amp and vintage speaker. Maybe this is in the mix. I’ll post my curves result i got from the mac mic to show you.

Here are my curves. But I really think i did it the wrong way.

Your speaker only handles 100 Hz? Are you also running a sub?
My speakers goes from 45 Hz to 20 kHz. I have no sub, but i dragged the low limit on the left maybe i shouldn't have done that. Measure is with a mac microphone not a good thing probably.

Ahhh. Thats the problem. Can you enable wide spectrum?

runned again the measurement by disabling the mac mic cut noise ability. Is it better ? I'll listen this morning and if not i'll for sure buy a real mic

Thankyou, I think it’s the target curve I am missing, will give it a go tonight and report back

Hello, here is a measurement of LS50 and a homemade target curve to keep the character of my speakers.
This is the dirac plugin on computer but it is certainly the same for the node.
Made with a umik 1.
This is to show an example.

Maybe we should do troubleshooting with Dirac there, so this thread doesn't get completely consumed by that.

Ok, I think I got the sound more to my liking. I find the Dirac measurements to result in far more detailed music, which is nice. I just think I needed to dial back the mids a bit more, still detailed but a bit more body to my ear. No golden ears here, I just like my music.

I just updated to the newest software and firmware (iOS 4.8.1, BluOS 4.8.15). With this update, now there is no signal to the sub out unless the sub toggle is switched on, which automatically engages the crossover between the main outs and the sub. So it's no longer possible to send full range signal to mains, and supplement low end with a sub using the subwoofer's crossover. If you want to use a sub, you must use the built in crossover.

Only other option would be to use the RCA and RCA pre out. You lose the ability for Dirac to independently adjust the bass and mains though.

That said, it probably is better to do the crossover digitally, no?
