I'm having my living/listening room painted and I need to break down my system. I have a set of KEF r3's and a set f KEF Q 150's attached to metal stands with Blu Tac. Any recommended methods/tips for separating the speakers from the stands for storage purposes? Thanks.

I would just pull hard on the speaker cabinet while holding the base of the stand down with my feet when I needed to separate them. Nylon fishing line might be a thought, not that I have any of that around otoh. Can be stubborn stuff :) Good luck!

And use a twisting motion when removing the speakers.
I second these suggestions.

My only other suggestion is to twist the speaker in a way that brings it toward your body, which should be very close to the speaker while you're doing this. The speaker can move suddenly when the blue tac loses grip.

I'd advise against simply force pulling it off; after a long time, blu tack is adhered quite a bit more, and you can rip off vinyl/paint/veneer if you're not careful. Don't yank it. Sustained pressure could slowly move it.

Perhaps use a bit of heat to soften it somewhat, try the fishing line, thread and/or thing plastic tool/credit card.
