A bit hifi-y guys!
Anybody recommend a decent mobile air conditioning unit, to get through this internal heat?

I bought three DeLonghi Pinguino units before we had a proper installation. They work fine, except that as are all portable units, they're pretty noisy. They do a decent job of cooling a room, though.

From my experience, a mobile unit with 10k BTU (or more) and the air going to the front (not upwards) is very versatile to use in a household.

The real deal is a split unit though. Much less power consumption, noise and no hot air tunnel inside.

Bless you all! Will look into the Delonghi! Our Fantasia fan, makes a racket on full speed, and is of course moving warm air!

If you lightly spray yourselves with water, a fan works very well.

FTAOD, that's why the thong is damp.

N.B. I removed the sequins already, because in the UK, they no longer guarantee me hours of fun in ladies changing rooms.

Maybe you have to cancel some activities when it's so hot?

According to the Kinsey Report, ev'ry average man you know
Much prefers his lovey-dovey to court
When the temperature is low
But when the thermometer goes way up
And the weather is sizzling hot
Mister, pants for romance is not
'Cause it's too, too, too darn hot

I don't know what kind of windows you have, but the U shaped window AC units are pretty quiet. I have a couple of the Midea ones and I only hear the fan, which itself is pretty quiet on low speed.

Any Brands, Ruediger?
I have one from Einhell, was the one with the most power (BTU vs. 3.4kw max. consumption), but that was a long time ago.

Occasionally I look at the "tests" (more like affiliate link lists nowadays) and I often see DeLonghi in the top ranks.

If I were to buy one today, I would simply go by amazon rating.

Until a while back I had an office in the city, top floor apartment. I put that front-blowing unit to the back room, fitted a 5m wider line to it and made a little bracket for the balcony glass door. And then put it near the next door and actually used the angle of the door to direct the air to the main area. Worked very well for many years.

That's why I recommend front-blower over top-blower. But if you have to put it next to you, with a window kit for the line, top-blower might be better.

It's going to cool down loads tomorrow and probably that's it for hot weather this year - I mean this is the UK - so I'd just tough it out if I were you.
Buying air-con for most UK homes works out at about £35 per use.... But they are a trendy "must-buy", if you already own two air-fryers.

Go out somewhere nice if you can. Yesterday, it was lovely on the beach nearby... Nice breeze and quite warm.

If you don't own the house/flat and therefore can't install a regular split unit, you want a PortaSplit. Sadly, the U-shaped ones common in the US don't work in Europe due to the swiveling windows in most houses - otherwise, they would be a viable alternative. Every other mobile unit is pretty bad compared to these two options. The rare two-hose monoblock devices work kinda OK, but they are still much louder.

A fairly short way to get out onto the downs though - it's nice! Not easy if you are at work though :(

I lived in Portugal for 18 months once, and it was 42C in the shade for a period one summer. Note sure what that is in old money, but it was OK - you just don’t get a lot done! I recall bars with fine water mist sprays mounted above the tables outside, on a timer with a regular little burst - that worked very well.

Been out already! Walked into the town and bought two packs of Rocky biscuits from Bargain Buys.

No beaches anywhere near regrettably. In fact you couldn't pick anywhere else to live in the UK that's farther from a beach. 22.7C in my living room (that's about 75F for those who don't do metric) which is comfortable for me.
