Tiny Desk concerts are the new MTV Unplugged. Like her stuff or not, listen to that first song to realize what a talented singer and song writer she and her brother are. Like many (most?) she's made the $ and fame with her pop stuff, but actually has real singing and writing chops too:

When I was driving my granddaughters around more and letting them control the radio, I heard quite a bit of Eilish. I think she can sing, and I mean in the boring old way of breathing in the right spots, subtle use of dynamics, varying timbre... I liked some of her lyrics too.

There's many a (labelled) pop star out there who can't sing worth a damn without auto tune and sound terrible live. She's not one of them. I think her music is getting better as she's no longer a kid making pop tunes for teens.

I think she is hugely talented, with a terrific voice. I’m looking forward to what she does as she continues to mature.

Tiny Desk concerts are great. As for Billie, I am a fan. It is nice to see here singing more than breathing to a melody. :) Her brother is a lot of the talent.

Good lip definition, pretty eyes. I had a Gretsch drum kit just like that back in the third quarter of the twentieth century. She's wearing the kind of blouse girls wore to high school in the third quarter of the twentieth century.

I first heard Billie Eilish during her NPR Tiny Desk (At Home) concert in the COVID era, and her voice immediately stood out. It’s soft, emotional, and feels completely natural. I love how much feeling she puts into her singing without any production. Her brother Finneas is amazing too. He pieces together dozens of vocal takes to create the polished tracks we hear. The combination of her voice and his production is really impressive. Below is an example of how Finneas can use 50 or more vocal takes to make the final produced voice.

and yet the live play thru of that first song on the tiny desk performance was kinda, uh, shall we say "good enough".

she does tap the mic stand with a swinging hand in the last track when she's standing, resulting in a little sub-bass thud. that might be mostly the extent of my criticism : -) Will watch and listen again. When I told my niece about it, who introduced me to Eilish many years ago, she said "yeah, already seen it" - why wasn't i informed!?? :-P

After, i watched the thing of her doing carpool karaoke, which was a delightful piece.
They shoulda tuned the ukelele tho.
