Big full range multi driver speakers?

MoFi SourcePoint 888 interests me!

I wouldn't call those "big". When the OP mentioned big speakers with multiple drivers I am thinking of something like speakers produced by Legacy Audio or PBN Audio:

With two 15" definitely qualifies as big.

When we say "big" it usually starts at more than 10" woofer, more than 120 lit. cabinet, etc. for a 3-way.
Even if the above description is better defined as big-ish, cause there's really big stuff out there.
True - above 300 litres and really it's a PA stack with wood veneer and you need a ballroom size space for them.

Over 150 litres is 'big' for most of us with normal sized houses I'd say.

Other than PA, double 15" and at about 300 lit. is usually flagship gear as KEF Muon for example, or mains monitors destined for bigger control rooms.

Yes my point is those giant speakers like the Muons are all about getting sufficient distortion free SPLs in very large spaces. Otherwise I don't think they offer anything over a smaller (but still large) speaker. I could jam them into my 29'x12' living room but I'd never have cause to exploit that attribute of them so I'd be just as well getting the Blades instead.

Although I'm willing to be disabused of that notion.

I have the opposite problem, for my volume for example (about 250 m³, about 80 m² of space) Genelec suggests a little over 1234A/AC with it's two 12" .
I would gladly had Muons here :)

It would be interesting to put speakers wider and hear the notorious hole in the middle of the soundstage..
It's not hard to do at the long dimension.
To me, this famous hole sounds like a detachment, proportions of instruments and voices change, the ones at low registers sound very bigger and the higher ones smaller.
There's also a sense of weird depth, not the one normally in the recording.

Rooms and positioning can be crazy sometimes

I guess my JBL L890's aren't that big but at almost 60 lbs. each I had a fun time carrying them up the stairs to my apartment by myself.
They go down to 28Hz so they don't really need a subwoofer.

Most speakers are not really "Full range" anymore, no matter what the size.

The advent of relatively affordable subwoofers, have made full range speakers a bit redundant.
Even many of the bigger models, sacrifice the under 32hz range to have better overall output and cleaner distortion.

Not doubting their specs, but to be 28hz at -3db seems unusual for JBL.
Most of their speakers I have heard or sold over the years, would struggle even doing 32Hz at -6db so that is quite out of the ordinary for them'
They seemed to specialize more in higher output and punchy 50-100hz bass usually.

…and mysteriously difficult to find the price for these online, at least for a filthy impatient peasant like me!

“If you need to know how much this costs, you can’t afford them.”

:D

AFAIR the price for one pair is about 40k Euros, so yes, “If you need to know how much this costs, you can’t afford them.”

My DIY cabinets come in at 180 liters with 15" woofers in my 3000 cubic foot listening space. Big and heavy has it's advantages, note the SPL levels on these measurements:

As a contrarian, and due to my aversion to echo chamber trends.... (as well as my liking for these speakers)...

Here are some multi driver, large speakers:

Martin Logan CLX (I have not heard these, but I loved their ancestors the CLS)

Spec is 56hz to 23kHz (+/- 3db)

Generally, the tail extends on a fairly gentle slope, so I expect there would useable bass down perhaps another octave

and:

Quad ESL-2912X

I owned their predecessor the ESL-989

The next debate, I expect, will be over the definition of "full range"

Note: I never found these lacking for bass... spec is 32Hz to 21kHz (+/- 6db) with a claim of 28Hz "useable"
