Hi,

My current headphones for tracking and mixing are the Beyer DT770 and DT880-Pro's. When I bought these I had several other more expensive headphones on demo including the Beyer DT1990, Sony , Sennheiser HD380+HD650, Sony SRH840 and a pair of AKG's (can't remember which model but were around £250).
Of all these, the DT880-Pro and DT770's were my favourites. I found the DT880's to be the most neutral sounding of all of these and the DT770's are very comfortable and decent sounding tracking headphones.

I've noticed over recent years Beyer has updated the DT7XX and DT9XX series and am particularly interested in upgrading my DT770's first.
Has anyone had any experience with both the DT770-X and DT700-X?

I'm hoping Beyer have plans to update the DT880-Pro's with new DT880-X and DT800-X models but if this isn't going to happen, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience/thoughts on the new DT990-X and DT900-X vs the DT880?

I have the Beyer Headphone Lab and Toneboosters Morphit for headphone correction.

Is there anything around the same budget that would be worth considering?

I have the DT-770 Pro X LE's, and I love them. I use them primarily with my PC for gaming, and general use. They block out background noise quite well, which is awesome, until it isn't. I bought a pair of open back Fosi I5's to play with when I wanted to be more aware of my surroundings. I think for the money, the Beyers are great. The ear pads are super comfortable, and the removable cord is a nice feature, as that tends to be the weak spot of most wired headphones. I think my Focal Bathys headphones might sound better, but use the Beyer's every single day.

Thanks. I will be using these in a pro recording studio. I would like a pair of closed back headphones for tracking and open/semi/open for mixing.

I have a pair of 900 pro x they're pretty decent cans with good bass extension for a semi open back. *edited for spelling*

If you are looking for neutrality, you should go for the DT 900 Pro X.
