Beta Test: Multitone Loopback Analyzer software

@pkane I have a slight issue with the settings part of the main window. It's clipping the right hand side?

I can adjust the size of the graph window, but that just clips the settings section even further.

Desktop resolution is 3840 x 2160.

Hi @audio_tony, can you please test this new version 1.2.13 of Multitone on your computer (with larger fonts selected) to see if the property window sizes correctly?

Another addition is the initial "loading" screen, per @DrCWO's request.

...and no scroll-down slider, the lower ones only appear if you make the window bigger.

@pkane That's fixed it, thanks very much. The splash screen is also a welcome improvement.

EDIT: By the way, in the waveform chart, is there a way to adjust the 'timebase' so the waveform can be observed? Mine is currently showing a sold green. When I try to zoom in or out, I can see something happening but the waveform remains a solid colour. I guess I'm missing a setting somewhere?

EDT(2): Is there a way to display the THD in percent instead of decibels? I checked the help and looked for a setting to no avail..

Just hover the mouse on any axis at the values and use the mouse wheel to adjust it.
Same with all charts.

% THD has been requested before, and I've resisted adding it since the log scale is much more appropriate... I'll think on it... again :)

Given that most manufacturers quote THD figures in percent, printing them in decibels seems quite contrary to mainstream.

Perhaps seeing THD in decibels makes folk feel like real engineers, I don't know lol. :p

It's one of the things I like about REW, one can toggle between percent and decibels.

dB is a much more natural way to express distortion, especially in modern devices that have vanishingly low amount of it.

But ok :) You'll need to uninstall the previous version to install this new one, since the version is still 1.2.14:

You can switch to %, but this is only for the distortion panel, currently. It will still be in dB in the sweep charts and results view.

Thank you sir. Would it be a step too far to request the harmonics in percent as well?

I appreciate your work on this.

P.S. I apologise for being a dinosaur and wanting THD + Harm. in percent. Not everything I measure has vanishingly low distortion unfortunately!

Multitone v1.2.15 is now officially released. This includes all the changes discussed since .9

Changes in 1.2.15

  • Add: splash screen while loading
  • Add: switch between THD/TD+N display in % or dB setting
  • Fix: proper scaling of a dense multitone amplitudes to produce the correct frequency response for different FFT sizes
  • Fix: occasional ‘object is null’ exception when executing some test plans
  • Fix: property window didn’t scale properly when Windows DPI/scale setting was set to something other than 100%
